Please help, i am new to laser building and have some questions

I want to start out with a small cheap build that in the end will be a decent laser that i can use frequently. From there I want to get into the more technical builds but everybody has to start somewhere, my first built was from a "How to video" that used a small diode from a DVD burner and an 650nm 5mW AixiZ laser module. Which I soon found out did not last long. I want to know what type of laser would fit my needs. Any advice would be appreciated
 





Welcome to the forum! The best way to find answers to those questions is to have a look around the forum for awhile. We have a help section, so after you check out a few threads (pay attention to the stickies) post your help request there..
 
Howdy and Welcome to the forum :wave: Yes what EF said ! you should look around for a while and be able to pick up some info, be sure to check out the search function and if you can't find what you are looking for try changing your words like, if "test load" dosn't work use "dummy load" ;)

A cheap PHR bluray build may be suited for you, fairly cheap to buy and can even burn. Take a look at some of Jayrob's kits in the Laser Pro Shop section, many are very easy to put together.

So true! I didn't the first thing about lasers, electronics, wavelengths, etc... until I spent many hours in this forum. :D Now the LPF is to blame for my new addiction :beer: Welcome!!!
