Looks like animal abuse to me.
Honestly I had to stop watching at thirty seconds.

-thanks

Why would you think that is animal abuse?
The guy using the laser is an idiot for using a powerful laser, but I used do do that with my other dog all of the time and she loved it.

The uploader says it's 1mW, should be fine for the dog; though the visible beam worries me.

No way that is 1mW The beam is highly visible and its dot is quite bright. I don't see any smoke or fog in the room. This looks like a class 4 445 to me.

On the video it looks to be a more along the lines of a 473nm blue, and "could be" 1mW.
However, I too hardly think this is 1mW as well. But, being intentional animal abuse is questionable. Being stupid with a high power laser is more accurate. Legally if you are to claim this is Animal abuse, you have to prove intent. This looks like the dog is pretty dammed excited. What worries me is the in several frames looks like the laser beam passes infront of the dogs face, and at least 3 times over it's head. NOT COOL!
Does the poster know that his laser is more than 1mW? ...

Not sure the owner even knows what he's got since many lasers sold over the internet are either way over the indicated power rating or way under. Even if its 473nm, no way its only 1mW. I have have a >80 473 and you can't see the beam that clearly when sun is shining inside.

Flagged it ;)
That is cerntainly not a 1mW laser, just my 5$

Freeze the images at 121, 129, and 130 look at the laser host. Since 473 is DPSS I don't recognize any 473 in that style of host. Anyone recognize the host?

Good eyes cgchaser. I zoomed the video up. It looks to be a possible 450nm O-like 80mW Single "Mode" laser pen. Not a blue ray. Still not a smart thing to be doing.

He has a video of when he got it

hmmm maybe not it doesn't seem nearly as bright :undecided: maybe he is using different batteries?

To me that looks like 405nm New wish pen.

This viode is from 2010, and many older cameras pick up 405nm as blue.

So most likely we're not seeing 1W... but still well over 5mW. Flagged.

lol you guys. You should know better than that. 1. How many pointers have you seen that are underspec? 2. Its a 405nm laser. Say its a custom build. Now how could he have set it at 1 mW? 3. Custom build or not, I doubt he has measured the actual power output of that laser. If the laser is no more than 5mw though, that's another story.

It's obviously a non-eyesafe laser, and if it's anything like the "5mW" violet laser I got from QQ-Tech, it is probably about 50mW or more (assuming it's that Newwish-style laser). Anyway, no eye-safe laser, even a green, is going to have a visible beam at those light levels unless he's running a fogger, which I highly doubt. No beam can be observed for my non-eyesafe 15mW violet laser using a Logitech webcam with its cut filter removed and the sensitivity cranked to its highest in a dark room.

And 4. The camera is crap. There is no way it could pick up a 1 mW beam, especially since the wavelength is 405nm.
EDIT: Bagder beat me to it.
