Plane Tracking in my area

ANOTHER plane was tracked by the airport near my house. My guess is a ~5mW 532nm DPSS. Probably one off the DX like sites.

SEATTLE – Officials say a laser was pointed at a jetliner bound for SeaTac Airport Sunday night.

Corporate media officer Charla Skaggs says the incident occurred around 9 p.m. but the plane landed a short while later without incident.

She says the Port of Seattle is investigating.

No further information was released, including the airline involved or what area the laser seemed to be coming from.

Since last year, there have been a handful of other laser pointing incidents at the airport.


Notice how he landed safely. They made it sound like the laser was going to cause a catastrophic engine failure.

I know a few stupid people and it amazes me when they can walk and chew gum at the same time. Some of them are younger than 24, one of them is 24 (step daughter) the rest are all older and I have come to a conclusion; It doesn't matter how old they are you just can't fix stupid!

Why do they continue to do this is beyond me.
This keeps up and all pointers >1mW will be banned.
Or they will require a licensing system and people will have to pay yet another (tax) to own them for legitimate purposes.

Uhm ..... maybe cause, in your country, they need a valid reason for propose a restrictive law against civil rights, so *COUGH*"someone"*COUGH* is simply "mounting a case" ? :thinking:

See ? ..... we are much more "lucky" in Italy ..... for ban all the class3 pointers (here is already banned any >1mW pointer), they needed no valid reasons ..... they just did it around 15 years ago, with no reasons at all, here .....

They don't need a reason to do stuff here. They can CLAIM that they have a reason but they don't NEED a reason. Outsiders think the US is all cheery and great but it isn't what is all cracked up to be.
