$16 shipping is very reasonable, and hell, $229 is a steal for these... I paid $300 for my 8x, and last time I had a drive shipped anywhere it ended up costing $30 for shipping. This is an absolute steal if it turns out to be legit.

I was serious. $16 for shipping is a lot IMO. For me (outside of California), I'd wait for newegg, they usually give free shipping deals.

I once shipped a tiny box of chocolates to Scotland and it cost $56 for shipping. This burner is at least five times bigger and heavier, $16 is a very fair deal.

it's $300 on newegg? I've never seen them get beat by that much. I was thinking like $230-240 shipped no tax, but we'll just have to wait and see.
 
The units are starting to hit the loading docks in the US, but the software is a "week or so" behind.

**EDIT** "Official" release date is now 10/21/09 The MSRP is $299.99 --- $246 shipped ain't too bad.

I was told by someone, that someone on the forum is taking orders for 12x BR Writers.. But i guess that was a mistake?

Not that i want to be the first to jump the train. I do however want to see what happens.. :angel:

The first one is on the truck. I couldn't talk him out of two before the release date. I want to see what's in there before we all go crazy next Wednesday.

Maybe next week -- one for me and one for you? But let's look at one first.

Actually, i am not ready to jump on the train just yet!

I am saving up for the lenses... I want to get several for myself in the "Mini GB"..

Besides, i wouldn't know what to set a 12x diode to! Their low ratings scare me...
Maybe i'll have a slight idea after i test and kill some 8x diodes... :angel:
