Pioneer 12X Blu-Ray-- BDR-205

Good luck on testing this diode Daguin. I wonder in which drive those sanyo 450mw diodes we read about will be used.

That will appear in the 4 Layer 12x drives ( a couple years down the road).
Sanyo is already working on a 900mw continuous diode for 8 Layer drives.

Woe I just saw this thread Dave!

Nice documentation and pictures showing the differences you found in the appearance of the new sled...

I would imagine that you will know, even from a short graph, if it has the same characteristics of the 8X.

All eyes are peeled on Dave! ... Again! :)

If the 8X diode is used in more drives, at least that means the price will fall faster, right?

if we were buying the diodes from the factories yes, we are buying drives or sleds, so I doubt this will affect the price now.

It's more likely a matter of time ;S

Yes, but the most important thing is that as a 12x drive has been released, the 8x drives should go down in price much faster now.

@Dave: I am praying to teh gods, just for you man. But hey... I also pray every day to have two blonde lesbians dancing on a pole in my room.

That would seem, to me, to be an exercise in futility and frustration.

Now a couple of blonde Bi's dancing on a pole in your room could work. Unless, of course you are not telling us something about yourself ;)

Peace,
dave

I thought of having them be bisexual, but then I thought "dude you'd be locked in your room with them for your whole life" (which would be kinda cool), so I just made them lesbians, so I can only look at them while eating cereal in the morning and be able to get out of my house now and then :san::san:

Hey, praying is much easier than getting my ass off the chair and actually getting the two chicks + pole!

I've got a pretty big cage, but shipping to you would be expensive. Sorry.

still waiting for the results and praying hard that this will result to a better one! Go dave.. we wish you great luck

huh.. just found this thread!
almost same sled? sounds too familiar, the argumentation back then was that it has to be a different diode, if everything else is the same! with the optic removed, we can be sure its not *exactly* the same sled, right off the production street..
the difference being mechanical? cant believe that.. that doesnt take 6 months, i agree that they would bring out the newest technology as fast as possible, to sell more 12x instead of more 8x, way before competition. and then the 12x come almost at the same time, from at least two companies? i bet they use the same diodes, same manufacturer, which just came out recently!
of course theres a lot of wishful thinking here..

so, dave, how do you want to proceed? we dont even know the limits of 8x diodes?
(i know people will make voodoo-dolls of me for this:)
maybe you should wait until we have results from igor's 8x testing? that could be in a week or something?

thank you for exploring new terrain, again!

manuel

just looking at the efficiency curve is a 99% secure way to tell if the diode is the same or not, no need to push it to risky levels.

Yours,
Albert

what do you mean? dont you remember who was the first ever to break the classIV barrier? think again about the "no need to push it to risky levels" :-P
