I agree stuart. You could get 300mw, but it probaby wouldn't last for more than an hour or 2 of use. Unless it's a really good diode.
 





I'm running the bluray at 200mA. The seller lists its recommended to run it at 190mA if you want it to last a long time. People that bought from him, said they did 200mA fine. So my plans is to run it at 200mA. The red I'll probably run at 280-300 as Dr.Lava said.

In other news...The same day my diode breaks it leads, I got the push button tailcap for the maglite. Fits :)
 
Well you should fix it. I really like that build! and you could run your red higher than that if it's a LOC. Alot of people set theirs between 350, and 400ma...

The 300W (pulsed) rated 6X bluray diode can fit in AXIZ modules. I had plans to just switch the bad diode with the new one, and use the same exact case. And yes its an LOC. The red. Its rather hard to fix a diode when both leads are flat equal with the black rings around them..:(

i would be careful when attaching the diode to the flexdrive, im assuming the laser was in operation when it shut off? if so the driver even if momentarily left on without a load, it could be damaged/broke... same thing happened to me. that 6x blu-ray is probably an SF-AW210 diode so i wouldn't run that at 200mA, 170-180 max, contact the seller to see what drive it was harvested from, where did you get it from?. LOC are actually more common to be run at 420mA, they can handle that sort of current easily.

Got it from him. Was cheaper than what High tech deals offered, And I have 2 spare Axiz modules.

Well, I'm not going to touch it anymore. I hotglued the lead on very badly, to just get a bad contact. It still reads 118mA, So the flex drive is still working. Not going to mess with it until I get the new laser, so I KNOW it works! Maybe some other time I'll figure a way to fix this laser. I still have a Rickstr driver set for it.

you kinda got ripped for that price, thats an SF-AW210 not a GGW these are recommended to be run at a max of 180mA for good life time. if i were you i would have just bought the 6x GGW from HTD.

Eh...It's rather fine. They did want a lot more at HTD and I didn't want to try the sled until I knew how the red one goes. As long as it works I guess :)

did get a cruddy connection to test it and ya..running it at 190mW for the fun of it.

Ok, I hope to get this tomorrow. The seller told me the model is "SF-AW210"

I took time to research this and came to a site called laser surplus, first thing that came to google search.. They sell the sled for $48, so my ebay buy is still cheaper, and its just the diode. They said this diode is known to run WELL beyond 200-250mw, and thats is a laser hobbyist most loved laser.

The sled contains a 6X bluray laser, a 16X red laser (long closed can). This can is able to put out 250mW+ at 500mA. And I guess somehow this is 3 burners a sled.

I see on there its best to run 180mA for looong life, but it can easily do >350mA. I plan 190 or 200.
 
Well, Got the laser today, the 6X SF-AW210. I saw on LPF someone said you can easily run these over 350mA but it shortens the life. I decided, since i have a decent heatsink, to run mine at 250mA. So far, the thing remains cool. I seen people say its recommended to run 180mA with no heatsink. So far all works, but waiting for glue to dry to make good connections. Pics later.
 
I think 250mA is a bit high for a SF-AW210 diode. They are known to be in the power range of the 6X, so around 200mA or so would be fine. The reason why some people's diodes have survived at 350mA is because they had freak diodes. Mine is set at 160mA, and has degraded after a few months of use. Ask yourself if the risk is really worth it, because I don't think it is.
