Alright I have over 100 of these PT-54 12W LED's piling up. I am blowing them out for as little as $80 for 10 bare LED's or $90 for 10 with the heatsink and optics.

Single units come assembled with a finned heatsink and optics for $14 or as the bare LED for $12.

Here are some pictures of what you get.

Bare

With Heatsink and Optics.

My poor power supply can only give it 5A but even there it is terribly bright. Proper eye protection is highly recommended.

Here is the pinout for the LED.

You can cut it on this line to fit it in your host and use the two marked contact points on the top for positive and negative. It does produce a great deal of heat so you will want to mount it on a good sized heatsink.

Sure is. The unit is rated @ 625nm.

I got asked why I would recommend safety glasses when messing with these so I ran a little test. And this was only @ 5A.

Is that the correct way of showing the danger of that light? I mean if i thow my xml-6 lamp in front of it my lp shows over 1W too?

I am pretty sure it accurately shows the amount of energy being delivered to the active sensor area. This is a 3.2W laserbee II so the sensor area is not much bigger than your pupil. If you have one of the ones with a much larger sensor area then you are probably collecting more energy.

What kind of LPM are you testing with. What distance is reading 1W? If it is one that takes some time to ramp up and you are right on top of it you are probably collecting a lot of heat energy with it as well. One thing is for sure you don't want to stare directly at your flashlight.:beer:

Yeah it's almost point blanc on the sensor so a lot of heat is also mixed in it

Hey, how do I go about soldering onto these pads? It seems my solder won't stick. Is it a matter of heating it more, or do I need a special type of solder?

I had the same thing happen. Cleaning them with rubbing alcohol and using a good iron fixed it for me.

I switch to a big flat tip on my iron so it can transfer more heat quicker as you can probably tell the whole base is a big heatsink and it draws the heat away from the work area pretty quick.:beer:

His are M140 pulls, and the M140 uses laser diodes for blue and green.

BTW, I got one, and it is awesome. A lot of fun to play with, you can burn stuff. Now I just need a real use for it.
