Re: PGL-III-C-589 80mW GB

Alright, I'm in guys. Also, I live in the Netherlands where it's easy to import lasers (ask Smeerworst, he knows). I may want to help out on shipping. We currently pay about 21% tax on things like this.

Re: PGL-III-C-589 80mW GB

Getting it without paying high taxes as a used laser could be helpful, or do they take into account whether it is used or not?

Yea, we pay taxes here in the USA, terrible for middle income earners. The real tax rate, after all is said and done is pretty darn high, last I saw well over half of what we earn.

I used to get my lasers into the country by having the conpany fake what the products were worth. For example, Dragonlasers sent me a 400$ order as 40$ worth of telescope parts. I didn't have to pay much for importing them.

I'm pretty sure its is taxed on the declared value new used gift or import. So the only way I can see around paying this would be to not insure it or insure it for a lesser value. In other words you I can declare it for 10$ but you wont be able to then insure it for $685. Personally with the efficiency of modern post I am comfortable with just a tracking number especially if it was going to cost me $140 in taxes. Keep in mind they add into the declared value the insurance cost which is total BS. So that will add another 30-40$ to the taxable amount.

@Alaskan- C'mon big guy you know those aliens will be flocking to 589!!!!!

But seriously I have gotten some PM's today and I can say we are very close.

Gozert you are on the list. Thank you.

I would be okay with insuring it for way less too. I have yet to experience an undelivered, tracked package. And I ship machines from my work a couple times a week. The only thing I'm slightly worried about is the lasers passing the Canadian customs.

You know CNI is sending them in 3 parts yes? Are you still worried? They seem pretty confident about there not being any problems this way but if you would like me to ask them specific questions feel free to PM them to me.
Or you could look into the laws and restrictions if any regarding laser components as this is what they will be.

3 parts? Oh, that shouldn't be much of a risk. Aside of that, isn't Laserglow from Canada too? They wouldn't be allowed to import lasers either, right? It probably won't be as much of a hassle as I thought it would be.

I'm not sure about Laser Glow but I know Ultra Laser, (a re-seller of CNI) is in Canada. I contacted them recently as they sell a PGL-III-473 in 80mW! That's the highest power output for a 473 dpss I have been able to find a quality seller for. This will be my next big purchase after this GB happens and I sell some more paintings I am working on now. Hope to be done with them by late spring early summer.

I got the rare wave length addiction pretty bad now, lol! After I bought my PGL-532 from Gizmo I see what all the hub-bub's about with high quality lasers.

Re: PGL-III-C-589 80mW GB

That's because laserglow is a company not a public consumer.

The PGLs are definitely pretty high-quality for handhelds, but In terms of general laser quality they're still quite average stability wise often times... but the best hobbiest quality bang for the buck shirt of a full scientific lab laser. I've taken apart, rebuilt, and repaired a lot of CNI made stuff.

I only see 2 real parts (and some kind of stopper). Is it shipped in multiple packages or just shipped together with the parts not joined (I'm not sure I'm making myself clear).
