Pgl 589 gb, dead in the water.

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

Hey guys,
I wanted to check in as I have a lot going on in my life ATM so havent given an update in a few days. My friend in B.C. is currently visiting Portland and I asked if we could sit down in the next few days so I can explain the details of what we need from him. Something i need to consider regarding timing of placing the order is that Justin is in the jewelry business and travels to India often for work. He just returned to North America a few weeks ago and he did tell me he was probably going back at some point in the coming months. So I need to ensure he will be in Canada around the time the laser will be arriving. He is happy and willing to help us. So everyone knows, I have been upfront with him about the import taxes, import restrictions on complete units vs. importing components. Once I get the green light that he will be in town for the estimated arrival period I will start collecting the funds and i need to collect the money in a timely manner because if he does have to go back to India at some point we may need to get the order placed quickly to allow for the 2-3 week lead time and shipping and keep everything stress free.
Thanks
Jeff

Okay will do.

Sorry for the slow process guys, Its not in my control. I sat down and spoke with Justin and here is what I know. He is flying to Cali for business tomorrow and will know after this meeting if he will be around to accept the shipment. He returns and I will know next Friday. Hes a great guy and even offered to drive back to BC to pick up the parcel if he ends up having to do work in California which to me was beyond awesome. That's like a 20 hour drive. So I'm sure things seem slow at this stage but we have some great people in our corner really willing to make this a reality.

Contacted CNI a few days ago and updated them. Yang is at the ready and has assured me her confidence there will be no problems with customs. So we are doing good just moving a little slow atm. I don't see a reason to collect the money until we have a definite answer about shipment receiver.
Cheers

My funds are ready.

I read that paypal would charge more to send money outside the UK if I don't fund it from my bank account - this is all now in place :)

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

Well my taxes went through, so now I'm very ready for this! Any update?
"we want lasers... when do we want them?.. Now!" Just kidding I'm just excited!!

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

Hey Guys,
I'll get right to it as I don't have good news. My friends will be out of the country for a min of 3 months which leaves us without anyone to ship these lasers to. Its just bad timing. I found out Saturday and have been trying to come up with a solution with no luck. I am very sorry and probably like you, immensely disappointed.
I have plead one last time to CNI to please ship to the US in separate boxes but they won't so unless anyone living in BC wants to step up and help this GB is unfortunately canceled. I'm sorry guys. I wish this could have happened for us all. After working that many hours on this GB with this disappointing conclusion I feel quite down.
If you PM me I may be slow getting back to you. I have some personal affairs that are taking up my time ATM but will reply as soon as I can.
Cheers
Jeff

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

I have a possible solution.
I have family in New Brunswick Canada. And if there's any members willing to I can drive to Quebec if I have to. Living in Maine I could reach both those regions in six hours. I am also willing to accept the responsibility.
Just throwing that out there.
The catch. I might be leaving for work in a month so it would have to be before that.

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

Guys,

Been watching this one closely as someone who is still after the exotic 589, but couldn't quite make the GB this time. I really hope you can arrive at a workable solution and I guess shipping to the EU could be another possibility? Nwfreefly... You've done a tonne of work on the this and given your other focus at the moment I reckon the other members could well pull through here with some other logistical options and make this a success... Keep the hope alive!

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

Hey guys.

At first, I was going to drop out of the GB because of unexpected expenses. However, I have sold some spare computer hardware that I had laying around, and saved up enough to actually be able to buy one of the 589nm's.

So, why am I joining back in? Well, quite easy.

I live in The Netherlands myself. Here it is fairly easy to import lasers, most of the times customs do not check the packages at all, and if they do, they let them pass. I'd be willing to get the lasers shipped to my address and will then ship the lasers to each one of you. (Can ship parts in seperate packages if requested).

Now there's one thing I'm not experienced with, and that is (if the GB would go through) paying CNI. I've tried ordering a 473nm in the past, and it was such a pain to figure it all out that I passed on the buy.

What do you guys think of it?

If you could handle the re-shipping and recieving I can handle the paymenst stage! That would be awesome. We need to hear from others if everyone would be comfortable with this. I would really love to salvage this GB. I feel like a huge let down ATM. Thanks to you and DWU for helping out save this buy.
So guys please chime in if we could do this via Netherlands would that be okay for you all? I can even receive all the USA based lasers in one shipment, meter them and ship them to the people here in the states if that would be preferable. Or they can just go direct fro Netherlands.

Thing for me are calming down a bit now. My wife and I came home last week to a notice the home we rent is being auctioned off next month so I have been quite preoccupied with this mess. Its looks like it may be okay so I should be more present on LPF now. Sorry I have been late to reply to everyone.

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

Sounds like a good idea. From my view it would be a EU re-shipment so should be a lot safer from customs.

If you're able to handle the payment to CNI, preferably without too much insurance as the import taxes are ridiculous here, that'd be great. I can take care of all the re-shipping, that's not an issue for me.

Shipping to the US will be do-able for sure. I can ship each part in a seperate package, thought it'll probably take me a day or two to ship everything out.

Re: PGL-III-C-589 GB-Payments stage.

I would be okay with it, im in the EU anyway.
