PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I'm waiting for the price to come down.

e: Anyone have comments about trying to collimate the output of one of these? Can it be done with a bare fiber output, if polished?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/A-IPG-High...nm-Burn-Cut-Engrave-DIY-Cnc-Pump/112909659955

These have a threaded output so you can attach a terminated fiber for using a lensed optic > https://www.ebay.com/itm/LIMO-Lisso...294776?hash=item3d317d3738:g:aM4AAOSwA3dYiPRO

I have not used them as yet but plan to after I buy some high quality wrap around safety goggles.

I have one of these that sees IR very well, mine came with RCA AV connectors, works on my television just fine, I also have a portable monitor and LCD visor, both are cheap on ebay > https://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Nigh...616075&hash=item3d4c1dba85:g:VikAAOSwUwFZ6Fck

Then this > https://www.thorlabs.com/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_ID=1792&pn=p1-630ar-2

And possibly a nice collimator > https://www.thorlabs.com/navigation.cfm?guide_ID=27

I sent you a PM

---edit---

I have seen those for 100 dollars and thought about doing a home brew collimation after removing the last part of the fiber coupler, again I have not done this yet and wont until I have high quality wrap around laser safety goggles for the wavelength.

I would like to keep the internals sealed, that's why I was thinking of removing the last part of the fiber coupler, I don't know how well it would work yet. I will build my own power supply and cooling.

----edit-----

I would love to get a true fiber laser, not just a pump, the fiber lasers that use a ytterbium and erbium doped double clad MM fiber with bragg gratings as the gain medium, it's powered by many pumps like the one you are looking at, the difference is the fiber laser can have fantastic beam quality and high output.

What do you guys think of this> https://www.ebay.com/itm/RGB-300mW-White-Laser-Module-638nm-520nm-450nm-With-TTL-Driver-Board-Modulation/122891231082?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D51377%26meid%3D58fad134cea44a8787f9d9de229dfdc1%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D262580156386%26itm%3D122891231082&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aab014a65-4080-11e8-8a62-74dbd180faa7%7Cparentrq%3Ac84223041620a9c0e71a2ab3fffd71f9%7Ciid%3A1

I asked the seller how this module is powered and what do I need to power it up and that's what they said:
"Thanks for your letter.
We have already reflect your problem to the department concerned. They usually will reply the question within 1-2 days. We are very sorry we can't give you clear answer now.
How about contacting us tomorrow to remind us? Hope you can forgive us.
Looking forward to your understanding.
Best regards."

Give it 12V DC to the AC/DC12V connector. Probably needs no more than 1-2A @ 12VDC. May need a signal applied to the TTL inputs, depending on how it's set up. +5VDC for those would be suitable if it needs them.

Red, my impression from the photo was theses IPG units had a hard "wired" fiber output, but I'd rather a threaded output similar to what you linked to. The seller said the fibers were cut out of the same kind of combining network you posted a drawing of and needed to be properly cleaved and polished to use them again, so I need to look into that and see what might be available to terminate or put a connector on them to thread into a SMA fiber collimator.

Ultra, that looks like a great price for that RGB, probably powered by 5 and 12 VDC was my guess, until I looked closer at the board and saw the markings to confirm it:

The TTL inputs may only be 5 VDC.

Edit: I see diachi answered as I was typing!

We talked about in this thread > https://laserpointerforums.com/f44/need-help-identifying-laser-module-102556-3.html

Basically you need to install a termination over the fiber and score the glass core then pull it outward to break it clean/square then polish it by inserting into the appropriate puck and working through 3 levels of super fine grit diamond polishing paper, the finishing 2 being 3 micron then 0.33 micron IINM.

There's videos in the thread above, I have not done it yet but expect that I will.

Here's a similar module:

Here's a copy of a pic I think diachi posted.

Ultra, at this price I would take it just for pieces.

Guys, look at this DIY set - does it mean that the one of 3 mounts is for just a mirror to knife-edge 2 reds before the last dichro?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-Part...416028?hash=item3d5fbfe2dc:g:~uAAAOSwg35azWEk

I think that with 2 of these mounts dremeled flat to glue PBS cubes this would become a set to combine 2 BDR-209 with 2 PLT5 450B into a 2W single mode beam like I did before with much clumsier big mounts. Or make a reasonably balanced RG yellow laser (3 reds + 1 green) or such...

DTR, do you mean that these 1650 do not have removable KE-arrays WITH LD block as one part?
I thought that if all laser light were used to produce green, then there should be no rotating wheel, just a layer of phosphor in the focus of all beams, so I could extract only these parts out and make a powerful green lamp out of it. Or something like that?

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Agreed, buying the diodes alone costs more than that module all together. I want to buy one now too :)

Red, thanks for pointing me back to that thread, I had followed it up to that photo showing the inside of the gold plated module, but didn't come back after that, not too difficult to deal with putting my own connector on, I see. I've done some telecom fiber splicing in the past, just a little, using a fusion splicer, or connectors filled with gel for index matching, but of course those are for fairly low power fiber, not these 30 watt modules.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Good call, maybe I'll get it, where can I get the right adapter to power it up? A battery pack would be nice too.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Yea, I don't know how they can possibly sell it so cheap. RCB, I thought that photo showing the insides of a laser assembly was on that same page somewhere in the thread, but didn't find it there. I do remember seeing it when diachi posted it earlier, just not where.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

This guy talks a lot, but look at the lens attachment he made from a C02 canister for BB guns, this is slick and if that beam is able to be collimated like that with a single lens :D :D :D I can work with it. I'm thinking a primary and beam expander would be a good start, basically what he has plus a beam expander. It will need to be a sturdy pair of lenses with proper AR coating, likely fused silica or quartz I suspect.

BTW 1 hour 30 minutes left on this, I would try to buy it but I'm not sure it's what I want because I am ignorant as to it's beam quality, I can make my own power supply and cooling. > https://www.ebay.com/itm/LIMO-Fiber...m=162988398677&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982

Wow, that burns well. I started to think WTH, he turned on that power supply with the diode assembly connected, but then realized his little switch wasn't closed, so it doesn't matter, otherwise it would spike that diode badly.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Yes, he no doubt already has the current limit dialed in, or is just limiting to 8V, his ps read 6.12a @ 7.6v under load so 42w in he's getting what 20 some odd watts out, but I would build my own dedicated power supply/regulator and TEC/fan cooling plate.

Many of these pumps could be crude as far as beam quality, I know most are multi mode although there are more expensive and not as strong single mode, but what's used to pump doped fiber is cheap MM power

The true fiber laser produces fantastic beam quality but so does a an 808 pump after you convert it to 532 through the crystal set/mirrors so I want to buy a pump laser with the best possible beam specs and I am not sure as to which one I want, but that DILAS with the prism looking output modules inside seems to be a potential winner.

Here are a couple of the inner modules IINM > https://www.ebay.com/itm/DILAS-Lase...510937?hash=item3aedba45d9:g:QzQAAOSw5cNYMz1R

---edit---- Those may not be, I thought I saw that prism/mirror output coupler on them but maybe it's a shadow.

I've been looking at those modules on eBay for a year now, every time I contact the seller they have no clue what wavelength they were, but for burning, not a big deal.
