It’s about time I built something different, it’s been a while since I’ve done a red
Build, Such a nice colour at this power,

I’ve seen a few threads mention with the AMC7135 driver the diode needs to be isolated or host positive, That’s just not the case, I think there are a few different AMC drivers some are negative centre and positive outer ring, but the ones I use are case-outer ring negative,

Very simple and cheap build, this driver is 1050ma. Single mode!

I’ll add LPM when I get home.

Hi,
Reds are far and few between builds, I like to build a red out of the ordinary WL's. Going to have to try that driver BBB. Thanks for the tips.

Great build as usual, Billy; It's always nice to see those nice red beams for a change! :yh:
I've used those AMC7135 drivers with no problems at all, and still have a Mitsubishi 638nm 500mW running strong after almost 4yrs.

Thank you guys, finding time on the lathe is the hard part, working 6 nights a week,
but whenever I have a hr or 2 spare that’s were I’ll be,
I have so many ideas for custom hosts can’t wait,

Bowtieguy,
I was recently looking at your lil dragon build, very nice detailed thread, I would have liked to go into more detail with this one but forgot to takes pics while building it.

Also
The divergence isn’t so bad using acrilic lens, As long as you stick to short runs the lens shouldn’t melt even at 800mw, Still have a small line through the bar but nowhere near as bad as with a G2!

I’ve noticed high power reds are very rare to purchase anywhere, they should sell like hot cakes if the price is right, Just saying!

Very nice. I hope I can get a lathe someday.

I put a BE on my oclaro to try and tame it. Maybe someday Ill get better custom host for it so it doesn't look so weird.
Its around 450mW with the BE. :)

I’m already mentally assembling my next build :p. I think I’ll try my shot at cylinder lens pair for Mm red.
