I've worked at fast food restaurants, wal-mart, substance abuse centers, tire shops.

Then one day, I randomly decided to take a 5 month EMT course as I dreaded waking up every day to go to work.
I began working as an EMT and intend to stay in this profession as long as I am physically able (hopefully until i'm old enough to retire)
This is the only job I've ever had where I wake up, and actually want to go to work. I miss my job when on my days off and find myself hanging out here even when i'm not working.
I've got 2 months left of the in-class portion of my Paramedic training, and couldn't dream of doing anything else as a profession.

Once I gain my Paramedic license, I plan to take some fire courses and maybe working as a paramedic/firefighter.

I only wish everyone could love their job as much as I love mine, because I know how horrible it is to be stuck at a job you absolutely hate.

it's like a saying i heard on a sam adam's commercial, "Find a job you love, and you'll never work a day of your life." and that's 100% true.

Nice! :thanks:

I sell/install carpets part time at an [unnamed] chain.
However until recently I spent my time on the runway at Logan as a ramp supervisor at a major airline.
I would guide aircraft in and out, tow them around and generally have an awesome time doing it.
It didn't pay much but I got to fly for free. ;)
My favorite day was when two girls in bikinis stole an UPS truck, covered themselves with Gulden's
mustard and crashed through the cargo gate. They stopped the truck near one of my DC9's,
ran up the jetway stairs [they used to leave these open b4 911] inside and proceeded to the rear
of the aircraft where they decided to blow the tail-cone off and deploy the rear emergency slide.
Never a dull moment.

@Shadowspawn Do you work on a submarine?

I'm a lecturer at a university in South Africa and teach in Zoology and Entomology. I'm a parasitologist where I focus on blood parasites of reptiles of high altitude lizards.

Still at school, although finishing in about 3 months :D

Still haven't got a real job. Doing some side stuff like tech @ concerts, selling stuff online (Like the laser harp kits etc).

OK, I work at an airport, but I've never had that much fun. LOL :D It is cool being able to drive out on the ramp next to the runway. It never get's old being around these huge aircraft.

Interesting :) I also teach in zoology and use single-celled eukaryotes (Protists) including parasites...

Well now. Don't I feel like a dummy !
Just listing the main things here...
10 years as a stage-hand, (not officially a theatre technician as it was mostly volunteer based but trained in everything besides performing) 10 years in television production, (everything but "Producer". last few years as the company trainer for all new hands/volunteers.) 3 years as an auto painter, (health issues forced me out) and now I've been doing warehousing for the last almost 15 years. The current position for a nation wide lighting & plumbing chain has me doing Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Control, Assembly & Instalations, Electrician, Plumber, showroom display design, and the construction, trouble shooter, customer assistance (parts/repairs), and of course answering phones, helping with sales, and many other of those other little things.
Not much of a mental challenge but the job is located just under 5 minutes from home so the commuting savings are worth bragging about. If only it paid what it should !

Come on, you must have stories. I have tons.
Everything from clueless noobs being lifted and thrown across the tarmac by 737 engines to a psycho flying over the airport
in a two seater shooting down at us with an AK-47. (not a joke, look it up - it happened between 1988 and 1991)
I remember they announced on the local rock station WBCN for everyone to get indoors.
He flew over Kenmore Square and shot at Fenway Park too. He had a fight with his wife, shot her then took off in his plane.
The FBI was picking up shell casings the next morning below the jetways.

I don't remember that. I will look it up later though.

Did it happen at Bradly or Logan? It couldn't of happened at Westover because he would of been shot down by a S.A.M.

EDIT: Found it, Logan airport, Boston

Yea it was unreal, I was on my way back from towing an aircraft down to the Eastern Airlines hanger (which has since been demolished).
I was driving one of the large "Huff's" (big tank like tractor) when I heard a putt putt putt sound.
Sounded exactly like one of the little Cape Air prop planes starting it's engines......but it wasn't.
The guy actually landed on one of the taxiways and the state police chased him but he took off again before they could catch up with him.
I guess he dropped the side door off the plane and was flying with one hand and shooting the AK with the other.
This was after he shot up Landsdowne Street in Kenmore Sq. where all those night clubs are located.
One of our female mechanics was walking from an aircraft towards the terminal building and a bullet bounced off the ground right between her legs.
