O-Like... Well Im confused and pissed and really confused help me!!

DTR - My version is more stylish:p

Also I'm glad to hear it's just the tailcap. Most likely as was suggested before, you just need to take it apart, clean it, put it together, and you're set.

Although if the laser is working already... you don't even need to do that:D

Glad it worked out for you.

Btw, Cliff is a very nice guy... you won't regret ordering from him. If you decide to move up in power though, you will need better goggles.

Will those glasses from cliff do the trick as far as protecting my eyes from my laser at 200mw? Is it completely safe it's pretty scary what misuse of lasers can do.

For 200mW you will be fine. Anything over 500mW I would(do) only use certified goggles from here Argon Laser - Laser Safety Glasses | Radiation Protective Eyewear | Bifocal Safety Glasses | Lampworking Glasses | Phillips Safety they are expensive, but you only have 2 eyes.

Bad news my laser has basically stopped working completely and not even bypassing the tail cap is helping I know the battery is working fine because I charged it completely and then tested it in my flashlight and it worked fine. I guess my diode is fried.. I emailed o-like telling them that it started acting weird after a few minutes of use out of the package.. What should I do now? Do you think I might get a replacement laser from them. Hopefully an over spec one?:)

After reading the whole threat I´m quite sure it´s not the tailcap and not the battery but a broken connection or a cold solder between the diode and the driver. (Probably because the driver got twisted to much)

So sometimes the battery and the spring is pressing the driver in an angle where this connection is closed and the laser works fine. But mostly this connection isn´t closed and your laser doesn´t work.

Had this happen with one module and the results were the same.

It´s not very difficult to fix this for someone who has experiences in soldering and knows how to disassemble the host, but in your case I wouldn´t try doing this.

Maybe an experienced member near you can help in fixing it.

Would the disassembly require a solder to fix the laser because come to think of it when I screw on the tail cap it twists the spring I guess and it makes a grinding noise on the spring. It's a light sound but audible. Could this be a indication?

If it´s a broken or cold connection it will require to solder it after disassembling the whole laser ( without disassembling the laser unit - I mean the brass module).

The grinding noise could be an indication of the spring being twised and making this noise. You can check this by just screwing the tailcap in without the battery in the laser. If you don´t hear this noise it will be the spring making it, but if you still hear the noise, it will be just the windings in the tailcap and the host making it.

How hard would it be to disassemble it and diagnose the problem? Or would it just be worth trying to get a new laser from O-like?

Can´t tell how hard it will be, because I´m not familar with this host. Just can tell someone who already disassembled a few hosts, will find out how to disassemble this as well.

You of course can try to get a replacement from O-Like, but I guess it will be a nightmare and cost you more than sending it to a member who will fix it for you.

I guess it is just a small malfunction with the diode like a solder or something.. I know the battery isn't the problem it works fine in my 600lumen flashlight. Do you know anyone that would be willing to fix it? I don't know that seems kind of sketchy to send it to a stranger that I don't know..

Well, i don´t know where you are from, so can´t make a suggestion whom you should ask. But in general it will be less risky to send it to a well known member here with a good reputation than to o-like. O-Like is known to often claim they didn´t recive the item you´ve send, even if you can prove they got it by tracking it. Sending to china is also quite expencive and they won´t pay you the shipping costs.

In the other hand dealing with well known members here there is almost no risk. They will be always helpful.

Susie messaged me back and said that she checked and they could send me another one if I sent mine in. Worth trying? Would it be like $60.00? Should I just get someone else to fix it like a local laser enthusiasts.

I have an off topic question as well.. Is there such a thing as a laser focusing kit? Maybe looking for something that could bump like a 200mw green to around 250 to 300? Is that possible within a reasonable budget?

You can of course try, but like said. Never ship it without tracking.

If I remember correctly shipping from US to China will be about $35 or a bit more and there is no warranty you will get a replacement. They simply can say they didn´t get it and will stop answering your mails.

Thats why I suggested to find someone near you in this forum who is a long time member with a good reputation and willing to help. The costs will be much less and you can trust such a member much much more than to what O-Like says.

Btw, there is no such focus kid, else everyone of us would have one. There are no lenses which act as a amplifier and this is phsically also not possible. You simply can´t get more energy out of something than you are putting in into it.

I'm so very sorry haha I am a noob at this kind of stuff so I don't know much about it. I live near the fort worth area and could even stretch out to Dallas if needed.
