O-Like + Shipping

After more experimenting, I got it to work!
I was able to burn a match after I colored the match tip with a black sharpie marker.
It also quickly began burning the dark blue label on a can of pringles potato chips, which was the back-stop on my counter-top, behind my match subject.
Then, to my delight, I was able to burn a hole right through the dark blue lid/cap on a standard 20 oz. water bottle.
Drinking water now without unscrewing the top!
I apologize for not being more patient.
I think this will be fun, afterall!
Thank you for your reply.
Cheers!

After the package leaves HK i always get it after 5 days (I live in middle europe).
My experience with DX was that EMS and tracked shipping are exactly the same speed!

allemander Try this.
Do you have any teflon tape you can put on the Lens part of the thred? (watch for the spring)

Anyway keeping in mind that it's a fine adjustment needed to get the beam/dot just right
To burn, you need it focused just right.
There is a chance that you might have receved a "dilda" that is bad, but it's rare, but like any laser there is always that chance.

If you have glasses (and you need them for 650Nm (red) at this power) it does help to get the "Dot" right for burning. and the best price i seen is -> Laser Glasses - Red laser beam protection 600-700nm :: Laser Safety :: Dragon Lasers

Burn somethang black, like tape, or the box it came in ;)

Most all of us on LPF have this laser (most of us have more the 1) so try this first and take you'r time.
keep in mind safty first, just because it doesnt "burn down the house" doesnt mean it's a toy.
And doin't worry, there are a lot of people that will help you IF <-- (key word) you do just a bit more homework first.---- > type ' dilda review ' in the search button above.
If that does not help ask > lasersbee < for a link to his review, it will answer alot. (only ask him after you tryed first).
Edit: Link below post #18

I've seen a lot of people mentioning teflon tape to help secure the threading on lasers. Is teflon tape some king of super-thin rubber tape?

Forgive the newbish question, but how would you apply tape to threading in such a way that the threading still works, and is more secure?

teflon tape is what plumbers use to put on the threads of pipes to help seal leaks. its also called pipe tape.

I have ordered the 1.2 watt Tactical Focus-able, Waterproof, solid laser on sunday and i keep checking and i checked today and it still says that it is processing... how long will it stay in this stage and when will it be on it's way?

Well, it should be shipped out in the next 2-3 days (that's about how long my order took)

It will probably arrive 2 or 3 weeks after it leaves China :)

so.. if i ordered it this past sunday, should i expect it to be shipped out tomorrow or later today?

Hi, I was intending to purchase the following laser from O-Like:

1] 1 watt Tactical Focus-able, Waterproof, solid laser or

2] Powerful Crown upgrade 500mW green laser torch/waterproof

Which one is a better in terms for burning and lifespan? Which would u recommend? ;)

First, Shameless plug:p

Now out of those two... the green will be more visible, but not nearly as sturdy.

Also there is no way to know what the IR content of that Crown Upgrade 500mW will be. You could well end up with a laser that only puts out 300mW of green, and a lot of IR.

For burning the tactical will be a much better choice. If you get the green, you will need to invest in goggles that also block IR if you plan to burn with it.

IMHO the 445nm has more of a "wow" factor since just about everyone has seen a green laser, but still relatively few people have seen 445nm.
