NUGM01T : 8 pcs array 520nm 1W

So i see that DTR is selling these now, but I can't find any power tests with them. Does that not exist yet? My trigger finger is itching very badly right now! I don't think I can hold it much longer! :D

Edit: There are currently two listings for the banks on eBay. One is $1,499, one is $1,450.

So as I look at the specs more and more, I feel like this diode should maybe peak a little higher than the NDG7475. It looks like they can take 15 C higher operating temp, and the specs list a max current of 2 amps vs 1.7A for the 7475. Thoughts? I'm ordering one now anyways. I have way too many hosts, and not enough diodes. :D

Based on what I have been told they do pretty close to the NDG7475 diode. If you notice they need 2A to get to 1W where the NDG7475 only needed 1.7A to get there so they are probably a little less efficient which might explain the higher running temp. They also have one less bond wire on the dye than the NDG7475. The NDG7475 had 6 bond wires where the NUGM01T had only 5 but not sure if that actually means anything.:beer:
 
Doesn't seem like the diodes out of that block are as good from that advice I'd stick with the NDG7475T, mine puts out 1 watt at 1.6 amps and over 1.4 watts at 2.6 amps after going through a G2 lens. On your web page, the way I read it, it says some sellers are listing 520nm laser diodes under the part number of NDG7475(T) are really the NDG700, warning us off from buying from them and I'm guessing to further differentiate your diodes from the China ebay scammers, your page only lists the part number as the NDG7475 without the T. What does the T indicate? From that warning I've never bought one of these diodes from a China seller, especially since I've been screwed over by them too many times in the past selling over rated diodes, it's expected now so I avoid them, except for the one seller in Taiwan who has been selling me the real thing for the price of a NDG700.

I just PM'd you the same thing, but I'll post here so everyone can see whatever conclusion we come to. If you notice on the NUGM01T datasheet, it lists 1 watt at 1.6A, which is only 0.1A/W less efficient than the NDG7475's 1 watt at 1.5A. However, the NDG7475 datasheet only lists a max of 1.7A, whereas the NUGM01T lists a max current of 2A. It looks like they will be very close.

I would place a SMALL wager on this diode maxing ever-so-slightly higher than the 7475, simply because of the 0.3A higher max current and 15 C higher operating temp. Of course, I could be completely wrong, and I may be overly-optimistic. But I hope not! :D

It's the specs on the datasheet that say that it should, in theory, have a higher max output. Before I tell the math, let me say that I have a good bit of engineering experience, and I completely understand that theory can differ drastically from reality. That being said, the numbers from the datasheet are most likely measured values, not theoretical numbers.

For the NDG7475: 1.5A for 1 watt = 0.667 watts per amp. If you extrapolate that to its listed max current of 1.7A, you get 1.13 watts max.

For the NUGM01T: 1.6A for 1 watt = 0.625 watts per amp. If you extrapolate that to its max current of 2A, you get 1.25 watts max.

Who knows if these numbers will hold up. We get pretty large output differences in diodes already, so I'm sure there will be plenty that have lower output than the 7475. But I'm hoping that we get some new maxes out of this new diode.

Hope they are the same or better. I hope to have a testing thread up this weekend. Also let me rephrase the NDG7475 says 1.5A to make 1W where the NUGM01T says 1.6A to make 1W. I was quoting the max ratings. It does seem minimal and there could be some reason for that based on them being in a block with 8 diodes.
 
If the divergence of this green Gball is like that of the NUBM07E then I would rather have the NDG7475...plus it will retain the protective can/window....unless we/I use a focusing lens after the Gball, but it might take a double concave then a doublet....or just a beam eapander, actually running these Gball diodes with the Gball lens on then a beam expander might be the ticket as the 2nd axis is wider or at least it is on the 07E.

Please post some spot diameter pics at given distances, Thanks guys.

If anyone is running with the Gball on I would love to see that output too, I'm still kicking myself for not testing my 07E with the Gball on but I was impatient.

Not I. The can isn't worth $95 to me when I can simply stick one lens in it, leave it, and not worry about it. In my eyes, higher max current + 15 C higher operating temp + similar, if not more, power for less money = sold. I ordered one as soon as I saw them in his store this morning, and I have had zero second thoughts about it.

I've wanted an NDG7475 for so long, but $315 was just at that point where I probably won't ever feel comfortable paying that for just the diode. At $220, it is definitely at the upper end of the spectrum of Tater's budget. Lol. I ordered mine with the lens still on. I might test it out with the Gball still on just to check it out because I've already decanned both of my NUBM07E diodes. But I will definitely be running it decanned unless I find/build a beam expander between now and then. JetLasers is out of theirs.

The advice to only buy from reputable sellers is a good one, DTR is certainly that, but in my mind, this guy in Taiwan has become reputable to me, at least, in the fact it is what he says it is. DTR has a pristine reputation of making things right when things go wrong, but you pay for that, if he was selling this diode for 180 each I don't think he could afford to be as good to us, so this guy probably won't help you if you screw up. So, paying a little more to DTR is kinda like an insurance policy, in a way, on a case by case basis. For that, it can be worth buying from DTR, especially since his price for the 1 watt 520nm diodes has been dropping. I bet it drops more as soon as he orders a fresh batch of diodes from his supplier, as the price continues to go down for him too.

If the NUGM01T has the same size PN junction and divergence as the 7475 then I'm in the car. :)
p.s If I put my " want to " projects in one hand and my disposable income in the other then I too must avoid 350 dollar 1 watt multi mode diodes, even if they are yellow.....well maybe not if they are yellow ;)

They look just like the NDG700 in the pics for 160....I wonder how low he would go? it says make offer.
3 of these in a triangle would look awesome as these lower power greens are basically for pretty and not burning ability, I have been wanting to do a pistol shaped triad of something bright like greens but the 200mw Chinese modules are so dam off center and you never know if they have them lensed for infinity or match lighting as they use a different gradient index and focusing lens in each type, you can't just adjust the match lighters.

Exactly. DTR is a great example of what a seller should be. I think I've only had a very minor shipping issue when purchasing from DTR, and that wasn't even entirely his fault. He corrected it immediately without me having to ask. I've had issues with others who were 100% at fault, and I've had to almost beg them to fix the issue.

But you've definitely found a great eBay deal. What about this one:

2.2 amps for 1 watt? A NDG7475T will put out more than 1 watt at that current, probably closer to 1.25 watts out of a lens.

That is for sure a NUGM01T diode. I think he meant to say NDG7475T but misspelled it. Some China suppliers also call the NUMB41/NUBM05T diodes NDB7A75's with ball lens as the names cull search results and they can sell them cheaper.

So I guess this seller either just threw a bunch of BS specs up or copied and pasted, and didn't worry about editing it? So many specs that are WAY off. Lol. Not the first time I've seen them do that though.
 
Here are some results of my NUGM01T, along with an overlay of it and the NDG7475. I didn't want to push it very hard, as someone decided to buy it from me and has already paid for it. It appears to be very similar to the 7475, possibly slightly less powerful. However, we won't really know until we have a larger sample size.
