Yeah, probably the only way off getting around the delay would be to replace the driver with one without a delay. Swapping the driver shouldn't be the hard part, the hard part will be opening up and dismantelng the laser to do so.

I agree, it is likely a 555-timer. I just opened one of my Aries and the driver on these use a 555 for the delay.
I think I will wait to see if some 808nM pump-driver come onto the market soon.

I replaced a driver from a greenie with just two amc7135 chips in parallel. nothing more, just the battery, the two chips and the pump-diode.

Doing pretty good. Still busy with the shop, but we have our CNC-router going now!
Dark Horse Custom has been neglicted over the summer to try to get the machine shop off the ground. Soon they will work together nicely, but for now, very busy.
