Lol! Yeah, I'm one of those 'Jack of all trades...master of none'! I probably couldn't count all the hobbies I've had. But my latest craze, is lasers! Just got into RC helicopters about a year ago too! They are awesome as well!

Re: F.S. Mini 'Pocket Pal' Blu-ray Lasers! - 90mW'

hey Jay, dude i feel like a jacka$$, i didnt mean to say your work wasnt good enough.

also, i wouldnt want to be messing with a man whose arm is 40cm wide as seen on that video :o

Re: F.S. Mini 'Pocket Pal' Blu-ray Lasers! - 90mW'

Naw man!... No hard feelings. Like I said, the price probably does sound a little high to some, but when you consider the quality parts, the custom heatsink/mount, and the build quality, I think it is worth it! (The driver alone costs $24 bucks, but it is the best!)

Anyway, I put effort into making them as well as I can...

Lol! Good question Dave! So far, I don't think so. There are only 3 of us who fly together so far. But we all fly electric's. Nitro's would definitely be too loud for my area there. As you can hear in the video, electric's of this size are not exactly 'quiet', but the sound is 'cool', not really irritating...I hope!

Re: F.S. Mini 'Pocket Pal' Blu-ray Lasers! - 90mW'

It's all ready for you tatman, got the power reading labled up using my new multiplier:

From comparisons with GooeyGus (of the 6 X diodes), as well as Lava's graph on the blu-ray diodes. I have adjusted my LPM-1 multiplier for measuring the blu-ray diodes to 2.3. It should be very close using this multiplier. Take a read here:

HaHaHa1 I was just looking this post over to see more about what I bought and SURPRISE! There is a picture of MY NEW LASER! Very nice Jay- I can hardly wait!

Re: F.S. Mini 'Pocket Pal' Blu-ray Lasers! - 90mW'

Trevor N., I got yours done too! It will be in Mondays mail...

Your diode was a little HOTTER than the other builds that I have done so far at the same current setting. 8-)
Please let me know when you receive it! :)

Re: F.S. Mini 'Pocket Pal' Blu-ray Lasers! - 90mW'

sherap, just to let you know that I got your Pocket Pal blu-ray done! I will have it in the mail on Monday.
sherap - Stephane.jpg

Seems to be pretty consistent readings with these builds.

Not sure if it matters, but on the extraction, I do not use any heat at all on the diode. I use some very fine tipped, small 'snips', to clean up the pins. The only heat, is when soldering the wire leads... about a 1 second for each pin.

Could be a benefit, no heat to the diode...not sure, just a thought.

wow, I can't wait holding this masterpiece ...
good to hear that it is stable, because it may be used for some music video shooting.

I'll let you know.

Glad you like it tatman! Thanks for letting me know you got it...

Hey, that RPL cap mod idea of yours caught the attention of an LPF member. I just finished doing my version of the mod on his extra tail cap. Check it out:

It's a great idea that you had there!

Re: F.S. Mini 'Pocket Pal' Blu-ray Lasers! - 90mW'

Ok tatman, for your second Pocket Pal blu-ray, I used a high range FlexDrive as we had discussed. The other times I tried to set a high range FlexDrive as low as I could with a blu-ray load, I couldn't get below 145mA's.

This time, on your build, this particular FlexDrive, went down to 135mA's. So I set your new Pocket Pal build there. (your going to be glad you sold your first one to your friend)

It is also one of the 'bluer' 803T's. (some are bluer, maybe 410nm - just guessing), but the bluer ones are brighter visually! :D

In fact, I would like to keep this one. How about if I just refund your money? ;D

If not, I guess I'll ship it tomorrow. (Tuesday)...
