NJG-18, multimode boost driver for 445nm.. and possibly 650nm

Re: 3 mode driver for 445nm, one Li-ion

Nice, I have one LM350 that can support currents up to 3A.

Re: 3 mode driver for 445nm, one Li-ion

I think LM series need 2 of Li-ion battery for 445nm LD.

I heard when draining "high current" from serial 2 of Li-ions, there might be more possibility of the battery explosion according to their mismatch.
So I have been searching and testing many drivers for one Li-ion.

As posting previously, my dual v5 drains over 4A (max 4.6A). "New" high current for portable laser!
Some Li-ion with protection circuit(Samsung) stopped draining as like when shortage.

I'm a coward.:yh:

I'd use 12V rail from computer PSU for tests.

Re: 3 mode driver for 445nm, one Li-ion

I just recently hooked up my 445nm diode to 3 amc7135's. It was amazing, but I think I want to go the way of that 3-mode driver eventually. I like the idea of running off of a single cell because right now I have to overdrive the 7135's with two Li-Ions in series. Not only that, but I only have unprotected cells, so in reality, running them in series is not an option.

Re: 3 mode driver for 445nm, one Li-ion

Hi. BShanahan14rulz.

I use several amc7135 drivers for testing and building LD, especially IR LD with single cell. (2, 3,..8 with clip)
There are wide variety of amc7135 based drivers with or without modes.

I like that because I can "choose".
Unfortunately, NJG-18 is the only single-cell driver for 445nm I can find in cheap LED sites.

How did you get it to put out ~1.8amp.? Did you have to do anything to it or is the 1.2amps the clam on hi just a typo.?

Thanks +1:)

Re: NJG-18, 3 mode driver for 445nm with single cell

Hi. lasereer.

As previously mentioned #39, I used a small heatsink for 5-pin chip like in microflex v5 (successful trial of DTR, Thank you. DTR) and 445-G-2 lens.

1.8A is for my dual v5 for the comparison of the power.

I expected the power of 2nd build(heatsinked driver) as 1.3-1.4W but 1.7W.(max. 1880mW)
I don't know the exact current of LD because I set the pot with LPM without test load this time. About 1.6A?

After 3rd build, I will post the exact current.

Thank you. lasereer.

Re: NJG-18, 3 mode driver for 445nm with single cell

Thanks for the Explanation.:) Got confused . Cant wait to see your results. Ive got one on the way from that new site you posted.:)

Ive got some many different Drivers coming to me right now iam like  in a good way.:)

But these are Sweet. The Pot is just a bonus including the Modes. Great find.

Re: NJG-18, 3 mode driver for 445nm with single cell

Thanks. lasereer. Good luck!

I have tested about 20 LED drivers. I could find this only one for single cell 445nm.

I believe you can find new one for 445nm..;)

Re: NJG-18, 3 mode driver for 445nm with single cell

So far I have found these two that i posted in this thread Here:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f67/c...ifepo4-cells-iam-using-only-1-99-a-59119.html

I dont want to Derail this thread so ill just post the thread rather then the drivers as well. But unlike yours these drivers Run on 6+ Volts But can be modded to Put out 2A. Check the thread out for more details on modding it from a thread over on CPF..:) I have one right now that i have had for months that iam not going to mod because i dont want to take apart my laser but when they come in ill mod both of them and post up.:)

Re: NJG-18, 3 mode driver for 445nm with single cell

I tested that driver, but it is not for single cell 445nm.....

Re: NJG-18, 3 mode driver for 445nm with single cell

Hi. DTR.

That's 8x amc7135 board. (8x 350mA=2.8A)
But it's not boost driver for single cell 445nm, too.

I appreciate your idea for 5-pin chip heatsink. Thank you.:yh:

Re: NJG-18, 3 mode driver for 445nm with single cell

Yeah. Actual boost drivers are easy to spot because they'll always have an inductor.

Yeah. Actual boost drivers are easy to spot because they'll always have an inductor.

Buck drivers also have an inductor, but not all will "boost" voltage.
