Newport 6 Power Meter Head Test Bench - Coherent LPM Sensor?






The seller does not even seem to know what he is selling....
And i have never seen broadband sensors with rings/ridges
on the active sensor surface...

It should still be an interesting purchase to see what they
really are...

If each head is able to come apart from the main unit. I would probably be down for a GB at 1 for about 35$ each might be worth a shot

I've never seen those ringed sensor areas before and
I can't see any reasons for them for our purposes...

That is one of the things that bother me about that
item.

I've got a thermopile head with ribs like that on it. It's a 10W head, so maybe it's to help distribute the beam more evenly, or reduce back-scattering.
 
Those rings reminds me of power meters for very high powers. Some watercooled power meters won't work without water in them, so separating them may be difficult.
 
Yeah, it would make sense to have ridges for high powers. That would lower the power density seen by the sensor surface.

Coherent appears to have a "LM" series of High Power Laser Sensors - note this link having the table shown below
COHERENT - ROITHNER*LASERTECHNIK

Without knowlege of which particular "high power sensor" these are (if indeed they are Coherent sensors), there is no telling which one if any they may be of those listed within this table below

so its a gamble but im guessing its one of the ones for very high powers as it is water cooled.:tinfoil:
 
The problem I see is if you are measuring a <5watt Laser as is
the norm on the Forum to date...

Except it's obvious these sensors aren't designed for measuring small lasers? It's a burn in/testing station for Coherent's CCP high powered diode arrays. (40-60W or more per CCP)

It would be a fun toy to mess with, but this is not well suited to application here. Even if it was you'd need to take a band saw to it or make custom heatsinks for the thermopile disks.

It wasn't me... I had asked the seller 2 days ago for pics of the active
area of the other sensors and he refused to respond. Probably because
the other sensors were scorched or damaged....

I was also not interested in redesigning individual head for those sensor
disks...
