I have been looking for ages for a small pen style host for a blue-ray build.  I eventually found a mini torch in aluminium, with a clicky switch in the tail, designed to take 3 AAA batteries.

It now sports an Aixiz housing with a 7805 based drive circuit and 2 TR10440 rechargables and looks like this..........

It has a zombie blue with a broken window at the moment, so is very dim, but it proved the point for me that everything would fit.......

What are the specs going to be?

I have no way of measuring the output mw, all I can say is they will be set to lase point plus 10ma.... Rest of details as above.

Do you have any pictures of the actual circuit board that you built? Also, where did you get the torch?

@GG The circuit is all built  onto the back of the LD inside the Aixiz module and for reasons mentioned below the last thing on my mind was taking photo's of the build I am afraid....The next time I will make sure I get some pictures.
The torch is from ebay, I just buy them when I see them.... in fact I have just purchased 2 more :)

*update on my blue-ray.... the only LD I had available was a blue-ray with a broken window, which was potted into an Aixiz module.... Taking it apart broke all the pins off and it took about 20 attempts to solder a wire onto the right place so I was not at all surprised to find that I had a zombie diode with a very dim output.

I noticed that a bit of the broken window was moving about and messing up what beam I had, so I took the lens off and, using a coctail stick with a dob of superglue on it, I stuck the odd bit of window out of the way.....

When I switched on again I found I had a perfect blue ray output! I cannot imagine what changed but there you go it seems these LD's are not as fragile as we have all thought.

Would you provide the sellers ebay ID? That looks like a cool host. 8-)
