New Mitsubishi diode 2.1 W, 639 nm

On February Mitsubishi launched a new powerful red diode ML562G85, but datasheets are poor. There is no information about structure - single emiter or not. If it's single, it will be a revolution in red lasers. Do you have some info about it?

Single emitter doesn't mean single mode if that's what you're thinking.

I was thinking single emitter multi-mode but 2.1 watts 639 nm, nope! Clearly trolled, his first post, gimme a break!

Nope, but it'd be nice to have that much power at that wavelength even if it's multimode (as long as it's single emitter).

Yep, it would be wonderful, I can expand the beam to get the divergence down.

I'm willing to bet that it is single emitter, I see no indication to the contrary and specs that'd suggest it is single emitter. Plus if it was multi-emitter this would be less of a breakthrough. Although the output is going to be a really fat stripe.

Yeah, 9/65 degrees, that's going to be FAT.

I think you're right. It was 660nm iirc

Well a fat beam was to be expected but this is good nonetheless. Although I wouldn't mind a 4W c-mount.

And it's a 9mm diode too, which will definitely help with the heat!
