On February Mitsubishi launched a new powerful red diode ML562G85, but datasheets are poor. There is no information about structure - single emiter or not. If it's single, it will be a revolution in red lasers. Do you have some info about it?

God please single emitter! (I think I'm being trolled).

I know :p No way single mode at that power for red, not gonna happen.

I was thinking single emitter multi-mode but 2.1 watts 639 nm, nope! Clearly trolled, his first post, gimme a break!

Yep, it would be wonderful, I can expand the beam to get the divergence down.

OMG, it's real.... hope a single emitter, but my glass half empty outlook gives an eeyore nope.

I'm willing to bet that it is single emitter, I see no indication to the contrary and specs that'd suggest it is single emitter. Plus if it was multi-emitter this would be less of a breakthrough. Although the output is going to be a really fat stripe.

The big difference between the two axis divergences suggests that the beam is awfully similar, or should I say similarly awful, to the existing high power red diodes

Yeah, 9/65 degrees, that's going to be FAT.

Man... I almost don't want this to be true:p I bought that 4W 650nm and I need to get it into a build before this thing becomes available

Yours is twice the power but 660 or 670nm? I thought it was longer WL.

Well a fat beam was to be expected but this is good nonetheless. Although I wouldn't mind a 4W c-mount. :p

And it's a 9mm diode too, which will definitely help with the heat! :D
