New Jetlasers PL-E mini!

Those are some crazy good 473nm prices. Only $220 for a 30 mw 473nm, $250 for a 50mw, and a 100mw for $350. The wavelength is actually starting to get somewhat affordable. I might have to get myself one soon. I really miss having a dpss blue.

Gray, is there any chance of JL getting into the yellow laser market? You'd have to buy modules from CNI I imagine, but I bet you could come out with something pretty competitive. The only thing in the market right now is the dragon lasers Spartan, and they could use a little competition IMO.

Razako-- the question of a JetLasers 589nm handheld has come up before as you might imagine would be the case. Keep in mind that Dragon Lasers does not make anything at all/of any kind. All they due is order and resell standard CNI product so you are proposing CNI compete with CNI. This could easily be a fast track to nowhere with CNI controlling all possibilities. CNI is the only company in China producing 589nm modules and 589nm finished handheld lasers and they are avaailable from any of the 23 CNI distributors worldwide--not just reseller Dragon Lasers who is not even a CNI distributor--just a retail marketing company within China.

Would JetLasers as a manufacturer want to be in the position of having CNI control the supply, quality, or cost of the modules and the effect that has on the final finished handheld laser product even if CNI would do it?

To actually be able to compete effectively, JetLasers would have to make their own 589nm modules. It may be awhile until Jetlasers has time work on a very small market/low demand, expensive, and difficult to to make 589nm product being that they have a full array of quality products and wavelengths that are in high demand already.

I agree--the 473nm PL-E Mini and PL-E Pro prices are really great considering JetLasers products professional level high quality and product features that nobody else offers and best of the best customer service.

PS The new 10X beam expander for the PL-E Mini looks great---pictures and drawing of it are on the beam expander web page among the pictures below that main picture showing--a nice accessory/finishing touch for a PL-E Mini from a great company we have come to expect the exceptional from---JetLasers

It does look good doesn't it? I had asked Gray about it the other day, and he said that this model BE for the mini's is a little less complicated than the PL-E Pro version, "for less issues, and better fitting"; it is also a little bit smaller.
Another plus is that they are a bit less costly at $80 vs. $90 for the PL-E P ro version.

I think these mini's with this new 10X BE attached, are going to be 'one nice combo.' to own! :)

@Gray - Wow, when you said the 473nm's would be coming soon, you weren't kidding!

If you haven't seen the new BE's yet, here's a peek!

DAM, I want....what are the dimensions and will these work on our MM diodes, if so I will be interested.

No Link? I have pay pal burning a hole in my pocket, lol.

The external blue prints for the 10X PL-E Mini beam expander appear on the Beam expander web page among the thumbnails that will enlage when you click on them.
See: http://jetlasers.org/accessories/15-10x-adjustable-beam-expander.html

MM diode output no problem " Compact design Adjustable focus Designed primarily for 355nm - 1100nm. This diffraction limited zoom beam expander offer 1-10X magnification with adjustable focus to correct for laser beam divergence."

It says 99.00, is there a discount code for the 80.00 ?

Red, they are sweet; I don't know the diameter or length of these, if that's the dimensions you're asking about, but I'll find out.
I know that J/L lists them as an accessory to their 445nm MM blue laser, so it seems they think they will work. I'd assume that as long as the incoming beam size is smaller than the inlet side of the BE, they'll work.

Here is the link to the Jetlasers mini PL-E page; to see the BE's, look at an individual model and scroll down to the bottom of the page, I know there is a pic of the BE with the 445nm mini.

Edit: Red, you were looking at the full size BE for the PL-E Pro I think, it's $99 or $90 with a laser. If you look at the mini price, and then add a BE, it's $80 more.

Fantastic! Thanks for the dimensions. It looks like the dimensions for the mini expander are with the dimensions for the full size expander.

They are only showing one price, and I think that is for the full size, can't be sure.

I would even run a NUBM44 with a 3 element focused to 15 feet or 10 feet if I have to, I just want to know if it will take it, I have the older 10X and have used it with a NUBM07e defocused with a G2 and it worked, but I want to use the 44 and get a bit more reach, if they will stand the heat I will buy several.

This was just temporary attached with polymer elastic stretch cords using the supplied adaptor to the 12mm module.

This is the old 10X

If I can find a button to buy one for 80 bucks I will buy it today, or do we want to do a group buy...also is the inlet 5mm wide or 12mm?

Not sure about the heat, maybe Gray could chime in and verify that it will work with something so powerful.

I wonder if that 7mm wide beam will be too wide at a 10X expansion for that output lens diameter?

That was the problem with the old 10X it would need 7mm inlet and 70mm objective.

I could defocus a G2 and see what I get, but before the 6X pair beat it stand alone, but if it's even 6mm wide I could retune my 6X and if I clip 25% that's ok because the reach should be sweet.

The tap needed is M18 x 0.75 to thread for your adaptor to the BE.

Being shorter fatter lends itself to the task I think, it's just as wide isn't it?
The old one I have in my hand is 45mm wide on the big end.

I just sent Gray a PM, asking about the inlet lens diameter, I don't know if he's on now, but I'm sure he'll check and find out for us.
The Outlet end seems to be almost as big in dia. as the full size model.

EDIT: Gray just got back to me, says the lens diameter is 8mm, now that's customer service, he responded in less than 15 minutes! :yh:

He also mentioned that he is taking pics, and will update some photos later.

I really need an expander with an objective/output lens about a 3 inch wide 10X or a 2 inch wide 7X, heck there's 25.4 mm per inch so a 50mm wide 6X expander should work well with a corrected and combined pair of 44's, wave plate and PBS combined then 6X CYL corrected, but I am afraid I got too soon excited as this is the same basic 10X only a little shorter in length, both are 45mm wide overall and 30mm objective.

The G2 sits so close to the emitter that the beam diameter is pretty small, de focusing so the spot looks more square could work with the expander mounted close, but without correction it will still diverge fast, granted not as fast as without it.

We can take a heatsink and drill it to hold the 12mm module with a M18 x 0.75 threaded opening 5mm deep at the head end, that should be simple enough, then use a G2 mounted close and possibly focused short of a tight line, it's not perfect but could work if we do our 10X expanding while the beam is still small leaving the G2 sitting close to the emitter.

This I should have already done with my 10X, it's just that our MM diodes diverge so quickly, if only we could get a FAC lens right at the emitter, but with the gas backfill it's a moot point anyway.

The 473 100mw isn't a bad price, I wouldn't mind adding that to my collection

Thanks a lot for your saying.
Yes i will be sure to post here if there is any update on 589nm.:thanks:
