Synopsis: Rave/party outside Moscow usually held outdoors with large laser light show experiences rain, so they put up a tent and use the same laser show under the tent that they would have used in the open sky.  Now dozens of people have retinal burns and partial vision loss. Individuals are reported to have vision loss as high as 80% in some of the cases,

Idiots are going to ruin it for the responsible laser users.

Now these peoples are professional idiot technicians with no qualifications on what they do.
Also watt range lasers does blind instantly and not almost, even while scanning on moderately large surfaces.

Let's all shine our multi-watt lasers around in a tent with no eye protection and around hundreds of people. What could possibly go wrong?

These people are idiots, did it not occur to them that lasers at these powers are extremely dangerous ? They'll probably get their asses sued of now, thats what i would do.

Take into account the pupils of most ravers were probably already very dilated because of the use of certain 'chemicals'...

No seriously. This is what happens when unqualified people organize stuff. If these guys would work for a company that sets up professional firework shows they'd probably end up blasting away a few spectators.

Lol right enough, oh well it could be worse, they could have pointed it at a plane :P

Idiots. It won't be long before the govt. starts restricting sale/use of them in public. Some kid over here in the UK got 4 years in prison for aiming a high-power green pen laser at a police helicopter.

The only good thing is that if more kids get them they'll probably get a ripoff one from FleaBay that won't be as harmful as the seller suggests

Lets see here... Huge pupils fully dilated from all the ecstasy... Staring at bright, pretty lights, also because of the ecstasy....add to that multi-watt lasers shined onto a tent probably no more than 10 or 20 feet above everyone's head.... add to that the fact that I'm sure a good percent of that light reflected right off the tent material... Sounds like a lot of sore eyes to me :o :o :o :o

Mmm Hmm, over 30 people have went to hospital and have retina burns.

It's funny how people worry about "laser lunatics" blinding people and then the "professionals" do something like this.

It would have been SOOOOO easy to modulate the laser down a bit (say from 2watts to 500mw) and that would have fixed the issue.

Just more negative publicity to demonize lasers.... >:(
Although the upside is that it's highly doubtful that such non-portable lasers would ever be banned simply because most morons don't have the money to get their hands on one. Most morons, that is....though if that had happened in the US at least the gov't would have shut the laser operators down and fined them into oblivion.

And this is why red pointers should be $50, 3mw greens should be $300, and everything else should be even more expensive.

Back in the day stuff like this never happened. People never feared my lasers, they were always fascinated. Not any more, hell I'm scared to leave my house with my laser anymore.
