New DX Green MODULES






I just purchased one last night and I live in the US :)

I will of course be reporting green and IR power ;) Wish me luck
 
I also ordered a 200mW module "i can add a spring" nad for this price... i'll test it to death on video. i wanna FIRST measure what these REALLY put out... then im going to lightly turn up the pot, and watch the mW's climb "hopefully"

and your totaly right about the red quality marking neer the POT. my 10omW o-like has the red spot, and outputs 120mW's steady, peaks at 134 at first, then settles to 120mW's.

and to finish my point, i also have an 0-like 30mW module, it has NO red dot, it is shorter than the 100mW module, and it mode hops hardcore.

its weird... its like the laser has to warm up, when you hold the button down, NO visible light emmits until after about 1 second, then it quickly (2scnds) climbs to 27mW's

I wonder if these modules need different hosts... and what persay do you thing the OUTER threading on the head of these modules is for? screwing it down into a torch host or something?

They seem interesting enough, though i seriously doubt even close to stated specs. We'll see the reviews come in i guess as some people here have ordered them already.

I've seen the outer thread on other green modules was wel, like in the CR2-based 50 mW copper lasers KD sells (or sold). In those there is a metal ring that screws over the thread and serves to push the module against the end of the housing. But i suppose it can be useful to mount them in scanners and such too.

The thread on the head could improve host building. There would be no need for a washer to hold the module in place. For example a single thread could be machined on the inside of a host and the module would just screw in it. Also, no need for a set screw either..
 
I think the threading is for the dx pen hosts. Because i pulled apart my 5mw dx pen and the module was threaded to connect to the aparature cap

Maybe with some little machining.

If you power it with 3,6v you'll just get a little bit brighter laser but you'll compromise diode life. Keep in mind all CR123A pointers which are used with rechargeables are powered with 3,6-4,2v fully charged batts. So you won't have any problems with it...
 
Might work, might not... its not the best place to connect it to a host as far as heatsinking is concerned... but it also depends on how thick the wall on that tube actually is.
 
Any one receive their Modules yet? I really want to know how good these are!!

I agree, the tip of the module (as far away from the heat-generating diode as you can get) is about the worst place you could "mount" one of these - I would lean towards the threading being designed to secure an aperature cap as mentioned above ... Not to post an obvious opinion just to keep the thread alive, but I want to keep this thread alive until we get some reliable test results from a reputable member
