New diode 140 fail

Hey DTR, I would ask for the Diode that was "defected" back. Just to see if you can figure out anything of what is the Problem. :)

Even Tho it looks like he damaged it wial extracting it from the Heatsink as Jay Said.

^ You took it the wrong way, If he would get the diode maybe it can benefit Us in some way.

I only have one copper module. I needed it for the build because Jay fit the heatsink Specially. Watch the videos and critique my building. Not videoing :na:
 
Glad you got it going...

I see that it looked really hard to thread in place on the final assembly.

I just wanted to repeat (even though you mentioned it in the video), that it is pretty easy to thread in. But obviously if you get solder in the threads of the pill, it will be difficult...
 
Yes of course, all of your work is very smooth. The ONLY thing I would suggest is to some make the easy focus adapter screw in straighter, on mine its a little cock-eyed at the end.

See, I told you guys I could do it :)
 
It's most likely the heatsink not being perfectly centered...

In that particular build, the heatsink has to fit a little loose in order to get past the threads inside the head. So when you get to the final tightening, you have to make sure it is centered...

Hopefully that is all the problem is...

Spoke to soon, don't have a problem with fitting (I hope I never have to disassemble this host again) Not because its not nice but because it means a problem :na:

I think the heatsink could also be a little bigger as it shakes around in the threads a bit before I tighten it. YOu probably have a reason not to do this though. :)

Well, the length of the heatsink will affect the battery compartment length...

But it is a little loose once it gets past the threads inside the head. And can be tightened slightly 'off center' if your not watching out for this...
 
Its not length, I mean radius. is jiggles in the threaded part. Thats what I meant. Just an idea. This host is very nice looking too
 
Some of the emitters have failed. This diode is technically dead, but its what IgorT might call a zombie. Lasing still occurs, but there is damage done, it will be a weak for the rest of its lasing life.

Just to clarify...
There is only one emitter.

I think the heatsink is a bit loose on the threads because there might be slight inconsistencies in the hosts. I just made a heatsink for this exact host today and I made it so that it JUST pushes in. My nice finish has little scratchy marks all around it (and one pretty big one from a stainless steel burr inside) plus, if you don't have the heatsink lined up PERFECTLY it refuses to even start going in. I knew from my measurements that it was less than 0.01mm under sized but if you get frustrated and just tried to jam it in the aluminum might deform enough that it would never go in.
The little bit of extra space is a good thing ;)
