How about I meet you half way. Since it could either be a dud or damaged during installation I will send you another for $25 shipped. Does that seem fair.

We assumed I wouldnt last time either (Shipping). So I ate the shipping last time twice. Once when I payed you, once when it got here.

When I fix the laser tonight (Installing the new diode I will record the entire process.

Awww. It just failed.

Deal with it. Especially if you haven't worked with LDs for long. They're notoriously fragile and easy to destroy. Considering these 445's are exceptionally robust and difficult to wreck you likely just had bad luck.

All the people here with experience have toasted lots of diodes. Not much fun but that's how it goes.

Anyway, without a LPM there's no way for you to confirm it's bad or not. These are multimode diodes at high power so that picture you took doesn't mean anything. It's lasing. If the diode was really bad it would look like an LED or it wouldn't even light.

I will do $20 not because you paid the fees last time and now want credit for it but because I was unaware of the postage deficient. I send them through a machine that weighs them at work and I don't quite understand how it can be off.:)

Its called a zombie diode. Its nothing new.

Well nobody seems to know how I could zombie it. For everyone else they just get them like that (What happened to me) I guess I will send you the money some time. From now On I will record assemblies for people to watch. So I know I am not at fault

Toaster how much postage did the package say I put on it? $2 sounds like the full pop. I have received a package of lenses from Jayrob the other day and it had $2 postage on it and it was slightly bigger.

Man it's entirely possible that the diode was still good but just being under powered for one reason or another...

That video showed that you for sure damaged the diode when removing it.

I hope you were much more careful on the diode install.

Just clipping the wires could damage the diode if the wire clips were not discharged of possible static.

Anyway, I'm with pullbangdead on this one. There is really no way to be sure when the diode got damaged. (if it was damaged)

I think DTR gave you a great offer to help you out after the fact...

But did the second diode install work the way you anticipated?

Yeah I took the offer. I make sure I short everything Along with ESD. Of course I was less careful taking it apart. I checked everything before hand and the voltages and current was right.

How did that second diode install work out for the build?

Is it all good with the second diode?
