No offense DJNY but I am not really a fan of "advices" of the format:

Just [get/buy/do] this: [something unrelated to topic of conversation].

It's like asking for game tweaks to increase performance and your advice is to buy new computer. It isn't the point! :D

He wants 405nm laser, let's focus on that. First we gotta determine if the diode is still alive.

I've PMed him some instructions to find out. Waiting for results!

'Tis true, but it's kinda the wrong color :p

Perhaps replacing the module in that host...

Isaac, thoughts?

I´ve given one of the old white Skylasers 532nm pens to a girlfriend of mine. She still loves it :) My old RB 640-445nm deep violet laser would be great as a girl color.

"a girlfriend"... can you say playa?

This one can be bought painted white for a little extra:
LP 405nm 5-80

Though you wouldn't have any room for secondary function additions as well as it being too thin and not waterproof so it would only be useful as a laser pointer. You would have to find alternatives for the secondary needs or move in with her.

Okay, sorry guys for the late replies I was wrapping up my weekend with her and didn't really have time to get on the forum. d(-_-)b

Firstly: to buy some time I gave her an overspec 532 pen laser I had so she can do some star pointing and pop some balloons around her friend who is scared of balloons.

Secondly: as to the diode, yes it is PROBABLY dead. I don't have a PSU, but if I get a chance tomorrow I will run by Radioshack and pick up some parts....and maybe this time I'll shell out some dough for a capacitor....maybe. I really need to start picking these parts up online....I go through so many LM317 Voltage Regulators I need to invest in stock with radioshack lol.

Third: One of my host limiting issues is finding a driver that is host negative, since the diode I have is the PHR-805T as opposed to the PHR-803T. AFAIK there aren't really any drivers out and about that would work(especially in small hosts) unless I isolated the module....and I would really rather not.

Finally while yall can feel free to continue discussing the logistics of the
super-fun-time-multiple-purpose laser, I'm not too worried about that since I see her fairly regularly ;)

I may end up purchasing a different 405 diode(that isn't case negative) to complete this. How high can the GGW diodes be driven? It has been ages since I have seen a 6x build. I think she would be ecstatic to receive a higher power 405. AND before yall ask, I have safety glasses for her. :)

Thanks,
Isaac

I don't see how being case negative is a bad thing. I thought you were making your own driver? If not then just use an X-Drive or something and that way it doesn't matter? If you don't want to make your own driver, why not grab a Mohgasm? You shouldn't have any case negative issues there since its continuous negative. That also works with most buck drivers, if not all buck drivers.
