Hi LPF,
I modded this stainless steel Solar Force host, The sink was bored out to press fit a contact board with a brass ring. The sink extends all the way down to the bottom of the tube. And it has a copper sink pressed in and Arctic Silver with copper dust mixed in for heat transfer. There is also a 4-40 SS set screw to hold the 12mm module. To top it off a nice copper focus adapter.

Well now that it's done any suggestions of what i should put in it to make it come alive.

Rich:)

Nice host Rich, I think Solarforce hosts are a great start for a build, they're high quality at a reasonable price; I've got one of those SS hosts that needs built also.

You could always go "Old School", and look at one of high power reds, or the BDR-209 405nm burner! :yh:

A very nice host indeed. I prefer laser designed hosts, but this one is really nice. Well done.

I feel it for 405 nm diode. ;)

Or some of these new diode wavelengths.

Yes, I agree with Jeff. It is a very aesthetically appealing host. I guess you could put just about any diode in it. Even a NUBM44 is so inclined. Thanks for showing it off. :D

Hi Folks,
Hey thank you Paul,Jeff and Radim for the input i,m soaking it all in guys. So far some awesome decisions for WL's you all are very helpful. Boy this is a hard one for me and usually isn't ,but there are so many WL's out there now so i will keep checking in on this . Once again thank you all you guys are great.

Rich:)

After much contemplation, and navel gazing. :)

I'm voting for the new n520. Why? Have no idea. Just think it looks like it needs a killer green beam coming out of it.

Ps, maybe the fact that I don't have one yet. ( might make me a bit bias ) :D

Hi BM,
Awesome i was thinking about all the WL's i could possibly put in it. There are so many and the host just the way it's made deserves a great diode. The host can takes 1-18650 or 2-18350's so i can have an overall pread of power but limited. Be really great if i had a battery extension tube for 2-18650's , but i'll be happy with that for now.

Rich:)

M-462 ? Really anything that makes a decent beam, what do you think of the N-465, how's the divergence on that diode?

Red I built the n465 in a host,

http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/n450-n465-build-100603.html

I really like n465, think the divergence is quite good. Think I measured it and it was just tad larger than 07 with the gball removed. Both with 3element lens. Over all it is one of my favorite diodes at the moment, beautiful blue beam. Like the fact that it's canned thinking/hoping it will last over time. My thoughts anyways? :)

Hi,
Ok Red,
The 462 has a great beam profile compared to the 465, but that divergence isn't bad either on either one. I am a fan of the 462 diode and the 465 is a great choice also.

HI DAN,
Yes i thought very much about a 510 connector for the versatility of different WL's great idea buddy. For the morepowerfull diodes i would make the 510 sink around 28 to 30mm in diameter to suck upmost of the heat generated by the diode. Even though the 510 adapters only 22mm , but i would throw the book away and machine the sink larger than the 510/22mm module. Nice feed buddy.

Hi BM,
The 465nm canned is a great diode i haven't tried one yet but I'm sure it will be a hit with a push to 470+. Nice blue beam medium heat discretion to good call pal. Oh and a 520nm is really a great diode that been having out with us for a long time. When you talk about bright its the KING super green. Hmmm Thinking !!!

Thank you all for such awesome thoughts As for the BDR 209/405 i have a solar force key chain stainless steel host I'm working on now. I think it will be sweet running on a single 14500 cell . Boy this one was a pia to mod but it can be done due to it being a small host to work with i'm in for it ,should be cool build.

Rich:)

I wouldn't go with a 44 as the beams def need fast axis correction to look good, without it the beam is more of a fan then a beam.....

I guess it always boils down to two chooses, Burner OR Nice tight beam without correction ?

What is the diode with the best 520nm beam today ?

Hi Accu,
This host will handle a44 but due to the short duty cycle and not because of the sink ,but there are only 2-18350's powering the diode. But i wouldn't rule it out all together just because of the smaller cells. As for the 520 hey either a 700 or a NDG . Thank you for the input really something to think about.

Rich:)

I didn't say anything about cells ? I was saying i wouldn't go with a 44 because without fast axis correction like Cyl lens pair the beam of a 44 is more like a fan shape then a beam, so i would go with something that has good beam spec.
