Need a Laser to kill Spiders (!!)

quite the contrary.. depending on the size of the spider a laser set up to do a single high powered pulse will easily kill off a spider in one go.. very similar to how they use them to kill the mosquitoes.

If you want to kill spiders by means an high energy beam (for fun and sporadically) I suggest the Wicked Laser Torch... it's very effective with its 400 °C :)

Man why did you have to post this picture aweragwgahw. :( these run all over the house during the night FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU. i hate thems. they run very fast. I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
 
Hmm...I've used a 100mw bluray once to kill a spider. They do usually run, but i got a focus on it and it died fast.

Another fun thing to do...I had a spider on the ceiling once, and i pointed my bluray at it, and it ran away. so I chased it with the dot, with my front door open. Using my laser dot, i made the spider run to the door and out. Was very easy =D

This has turned in to an epic thread but ya for whatever reasons I love spiders compared to centipedes lol. Sealing off cracks is a must.. I would recommend quarter round molding to put over the carpet around all of your baseboards.. You can glue it or nail it which ever is easier but its an easy way to protect the ground. Id also look for cracks around windows. I believe you can actually have stuff sprayed ( or do it yourself) around the outside of your place. Other than that call an exterminator, spend the money and sleep better at night.

Those spiders in the pics are F***ing massive, I couldn't deal with those.. Im in Michigan now and we don't have anything like that. I always thought AZ would be a nice place to live but always thought about the spiders they have out there. Def not my style..

And about that picture of the centipede, I agree with whoever asked why you had to post that haha. Un-necessary!

If you have those in your house, they will control the spider population.
They are king of the insects within your home, and if you have them but dont like spiders, its a catch 22.

They make my skin crawl, but they are your friend in the battle against spiders...

Mount a laser on their head and your all set.

God only knows they are big enough to carry one...
And nearly as fast as the light one emits :scared:

True, but it's a darn fine start! :p

I'm guessing that's a bar-diode? So a Plano-convex, to pull in the width of the beam, then put it through a another to collimate it. Sourcing the optics would not be hard.

I notice they do sell mounts, so maybe just drilling out a plate of aluminum would suffice for people with limited/no machining ability.

I think it's machining something that allows proper mounting and adjustments would be what's beyond most people.

I used my arctic for instant death of ants, but there's so many ants... A good poison still worked for me, as far as totally handling the problem. I am too afraid of spiders to get close enough to even attempt a laser kill, so I wouldn't know...

I do know that every time i kill an ant with a laser this pops up in my head:

The machining would be hard without a CNC, but that would work. Expect a terrible beam though.
