My smallest BR yet! (PICS)

I know for a fact that this build isn't the smallest BR to grace this forum, but it is the smallest BR that i have ever made, so needless to say i'm quite proud of myself :D

The host was originally an INOVA LED flashlight which was powered off of a single AA cell. It now uses a B0323 diode running at roughly 125mA off a LM317T driver and powered off of two 28L 6V batts. I used these batts as they are easy for me to get a hold of and two of them stacked together use almost the exact same space as the orginal AA while providing enough voltage to drive a BR off of an LM317.

The last pic shows its size compared to my BR minimag.

Very nice! I may have to build one of these with all these PHR's I have laying around.
 
Wow, that might be my new favorite host. How easy was it to install? Any tough snags you had to get around?
 
Opening it was the hardest part. The reflector is a solid peice of machined aluminum that is then pressed into the top of the flashlight barrel. It has to be rather forcefully pryed, pushed and pulled out. Then i used my dremel to clean up the edges of the host that were slighthly damaged from the extraction process.

It is a bit pricey for its size but all-in-all it is a very nice little flashlight if you were ever planing on keeping it as a flashlight:D
 
I took my BR diode and replaced it into one of these..

Pretty sweet.. now I have LED flashlight and then press a switch to switch it to laser mode. Wish I could have kept the red laser in it, but no real estate. Maybe I'll drill a hole and add it in later.

shweetness...how is that working are u using the leads from the old diode
I really like how the light for the different modes is still working.

The switch is controlled by a microswitch. I didn't change that since it's stock for this device. I removed the red laser diode from the module and replaced it with my BR diode. Then I hooked up a flexdrive to the BR laser to power it. Then I removed the UV LEDs and hooked the wires of the flexdriver to the the UV LED pads. The path for the original laser didn't have enough juice to power my BR which was unfortunate or else I could have had a Laser/ White LED/UV LED. Maybe I'll work on it again to see if I can change out some resistors on the original board to boost the current.. but I really don't think it would work since I believe the original Laser Diode was pulse modulated by the microcontroller. Well I'm happy I got it to work.. Looks really cool. And when shined on UV dye, it really shines.

Note the original flashlight was designed to shine on UV dye for leak detect.
