Re: My black friday build

Update new cooling
Should I start a new thread for this?
Well, heres what I did...and by "I" I mean my brother too (he has a Mazak @ home)
Seems these 445's @ 1.1A need to stay cool, So we built a fan to fit into the tube.
Pic 1,2 and 3 are the fan parts we made.
pic 4 & 5 are the fan in the tube.
pic 6 & 7 shows the porting thru the head past the LD and driver (inlet air) and the porting out the radial wall of the tube.
And yes if moves decent air volume.
Anyone want to give this "host" a name ? Gonna need one When they go for sale.
BTW Thanks for all the feedback:wave::wave::wave:

Re: My black friday build

Oh btw, the battery is a "AAA" For size comp.

Somebody else with access to Mazaks? I thought I was the only one!

Those parts look sick! Was that all done in Mazatrol or are you using some sort of CAM package? I don't have the patience to program Mazatrol programs like that, and I don't know enough about g-code to write my own posts (I've got access to Mastercam 9, but no post.)

I agree with everyone else, if you build them they will sell...

We drew it in Autocad but just punched in the #'s
My Brother is a whiz with mazatrol. He has a mill and a lathe (both CNC mazak) in his garage!!
My mill & lathe are manual but I make some crazy stuff on them.

Dang, your brother must have one big garage! That all looks like 2.5 axis live tooling lathe work to me, you didn't use a SQT-10M by chance did you? Those are some amazing parts for being done in Mazatrol, your brother must be really good!

Wish I had the space for a few CNC mills around my place, I know I could get a few if I had room for em. I don't even have room for a knee mill here, it sucks!

The only parts made on the mazak are the fan impeller and clear plastic housing. All other parts were done on my manual machines. Rotary table is my fav. tool.

did you put a ring of Tritium markers around it? That looks great! And is that fan inside the laser? How long of runtimes do you get with the active cooling?

No, I had a light pointed into the side ports of body to show where the exhaust comes out, Yes it is inside the body, I will post runtimes when I get it finished.
This is not the same laser I built on "black Friday" I started this one on saturday. It will use the same body but have an internal fan.
