Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - An LMPD helicopter was forced to land after someone pointed a laser in its direction, which temporarily blinded the pilot.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday near I-65. The pilot was flying over the downtown area at the time.
Four suspects were arrested and charged with 1st degree wanton endangerment and fleeing and evading arrest.
They have been identified as 25-year-old Brian Enlow, 21-year-old Joy McElwain, 29-year-old Steven Springer III and 18-year-old Jason A. Hill.
Police say that the LMPD helicopter was assisting in a traffic stop when the suspects pointed and green laser in to the cockpit, blinding the pilot.
The chopper followed the suspect vehicle into Jeffersonville, Indiana where the suspects ditched the car and fled on foot. They were all captured with the help of a Jeffersonville Police Canine Unit a short time later.
Police say that pointing lasers at aircraft is very dangerous and considered a very serious crime.
One of the suspects has not waived extradition. He is being held in Harrison County on unrelated charges.
WHAS11 News is told that federal authorities may consider charging the suspects with a federal crime as well.

It looks more like someone (the media? the police?) is exaggerating and hyping this into something that it was not
It's like a "Transformer" . . . . .
Peace,
dave
