Merged 445nm Pictures and Video Thread

Hmm. I've had some success with lighting a non prelit candle with my 12X BR. It might work with the 445s as well. What I did was focus it to a pinpoint on the wax at the base of the wick, then move the focal point up the wick. took me a few tries, and it worked well on a candle that was kind of an orange color. But didn't work on a white candle that I tried it on. Might be useful to try.

If this helps, the output of my 445nm build is 1100mw. I just had it tested today. I didn't really use a test load to adjust the current since I just maxed out the pentiometer on the microboost. I think the current is somewhere around 1 amp.

I'll post some pictures and videos when I get the chance.

I got my A140 diode today "thanks Dave" and put it together with a Microflexdrive in a 4171 host
and a 405-G-1 lens.
I set the drive to max 1.5 amps and fired it up! 1650mw to start then after about 20
seconds it settles down to 1450 and is fairly steady there, until It started to pulse shortly thereafter, I guessed right away it was the driver so I shot the drive with freon and it stopped as I figured it would.
So I rigged up the large pill in the 4171 as a heat sink for the drive, I insulated the connections I thought could short and with a little silicone heat sink compound on the final output drivers I strapped it flat to the brass ontop of the pill, turned it on again and No more pulsing now.
30 seconds on time is all I have given it so far. It burns crazy hot and boils water at the focal point.
the battery is a 18650 and it draws 2.2amps from it.
Strange seeing a bar for a focal point!

Here are some beam shots with a 600mw 12x , it looks 3 or 4 times brighter than the 12x
I am next going to test it with two 18650s in parallel and see how the power acts then

Very cool! I'm surprised the driver got hot... I thought they could handle it no problem. I kinda wish I'd gotten a flexdrive now, I'm not gonna use this laser for more than 5 hours total probably so 1500mW would be nice.

I finally have joined the 445nm club!! I got a couple A-130 diodes and my boost driver set to 800mA over a week ago but was still waiting on my Ehgemus host and the 405nm (now optimized for 445nm) glass lenses. So, I'm still waiting on the lenses but I couldn't wait to build it. Right now I have just regular aixiz glass in there and I tried my G-1 glass too.

I can't believe it!! Pictures just don't do it justice, have to see it in person, love that blue!!! Here's some pics but my camera doesn't do beam shots that well. The pic with multiple lasers: 155mW opto pen, LOC-815@434mA, 6X in jayrob SS CR2@190mA, and the 445nm@800mA :D:D:D

Thanks. Now I got to figure out what to do with my other A-130 and the A-140 on the way...

LOL. Thats what I was thinking for the A-140. I have a 4D mag that will hold a HUGE finned heatsink and there is plenty of room for a small 8mm X 8mm fan. I think it can do 2A with the cooling...

they make 8x8mm fans :wtf: the smallest I've seen was 25x25mm, and those were SMALL... I honestly can't conceive of a fan that small.

lol that'll work... i wish i knew about the a-140 when i ordered but i'm very happy with this thing. was this your first venture into the class IV club?

Here's the link for that small 8mm X 8mm fan at digikey but it looks like they don't have any available
Digi-Key - 259-1454-ND (Manufacturer - UF385-500)

Thats ok, they have 15mm,16mm, and 17mm fans that will fit the barrel of a 4D mag.

Yup first time with a class IV. To me, it seems brighter than my opto 155mW

well then welcome to the class IV club aswell
heres my class IV's

WHAT THE HELL? It's sooooo small.... I doubt you can move much air with that. Plus $19 a pop.....
