So is he asking to much for it dave ? I saw the same laser new for 4400 euro , that about 5200 US dollars hmmm well the laser is really as new , if you know a few people who are interested , PM me .... Thanks in the advance
Remember, it's not how much they are listed for.
It's how much they are selling for
People, regularly, find or get these types of things and look up how much they are new.
They try to sell them for a good percentage of the "new" price
Unfortunately, they rarely sell at those prices.
Only businesses, governments, and universities pay new price for these things.
If one is going to be paying over 50% of the new price, then why not get a new one, with the company support and warranties?
In the US, part of most research grants is the requirement that they must buy the newest, latest equipment
That's one of the main reasons that used equipment like this is so affordable (and available) in the US
As has been said herein.
Often times used gas lasers sell for only a small percentage of the "new" price
This is true even when the item is "like new"
Look at eBay
Do NOT look at the "active" auctions
Look at the closed auctions
Then concentrate on the closed auctions that actually sold
That will give you a fair idea of what the market is willing to pay for the item.
I buy decommissioned $38,000 DNA sequencers for ~$300
I harvest the laser and sell it for ~$400
Very few businesses buy used equipment
Very few hobbyists can afford to pay anywhere near the "new" price
Peace,
dave
