Melles Griot HeNe gas laser

Update.
The laser comes with the original box and the guy is asking €2000 ( USD$2.638,20 )
for it.

I'm sorry, but IMHO you'll never get that for a used one of them, even though I love it.

For two reasons:

1. that is over 50% of the price of a new one and usually 50% is the most you can hope for on used. Although that does not always happen.

2. The Spectra Physics 127 is the same power level or better, considered perfect for holography, tweakable, about the same size and all in one package. You can pick one up for about $1000 or so, sometimes less.

Remember, it's not how much they are listed for.
It's how much they are selling for

People, regularly, find or get these types of things and look up how much they are new.
They try to sell them for a good percentage of the "new" price
Unfortunately, they rarely sell at those prices.

Only businesses, governments, and universities pay new price for these things.
If one is going to be paying over 50% of the new price, then why not get a new one, with the company support and warranties?
In the US, part of most research grants is the requirement that they must buy the newest, latest equipment
That's one of the main reasons that used equipment like this is so affordable (and available) in the US

As has been said herein.
Often times used gas lasers sell for only a small percentage of the "new" price
This is true even when the item is "like new"

Look at eBay
Do NOT look at the "active" auctions
Look at the closed auctions
Then concentrate on the closed auctions that actually sold
That will give you a fair idea of what the market is willing to pay for the item.

I buy decommissioned $38,000 DNA sequencers for ~$300
I harvest the laser and sell it for ~$400

Very few businesses buy used equipment
Very few hobbyists can afford to pay anywhere near the "new" price

Peace,
dave

Dave this is exactly the answer i not wanned to hear from you haha

Yeah, I see it.

But your 907B is only putting out 17mw not 35-40mw. If you have one in that range we need to talk. Otherwise I'm still looking.

40mw +/- a few mw should be output for this in like new condition if I understand the specs on these correctly and from what I've read on Sam's Laser FAQs.

I expect this Melles Griot to actually sell between 600 and 1000. I can't see it going any over that, but less than that for a 35mw HeNe that size would be a very good deal.

Holokidd had a 127 on the PL forum for $1000.00 that didn't sell. It was posted on Ebay three times, each time the price dropped. Finally went for $605 plus shipping. Super deal, but couldn't afford that much at the time.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Hello All,

I'm the guy with the HeNe laser.
Is there anybody here interested in buying it? We can talk about the price.
It looks good as new and hasn't been used a lot.
Let me know if you want to make me an offer.

Apichcu

If you don't have a lot of money I would even consider paying in 2 terms.
It's about 4750 Euro's New.
I'm willing to talk about a price over 1250 Euro's all at once and a little more if payed in terms.
