LPF History 108 - Oldest Still Active Members High/Low Post Count

time to post here..
THANKS Mac.
I think you can find yourself by looking at the join date.
I was surprised that I have had >50K
'visits'

Lots of no longer active members that I remember.

Find an old friend and send a PM--that might be all it takes to have them back-TY Mac

Hak this thread is way out of date. Unless you plan on providing updates on members you are necro posting. Do you have updated member info? Because I would like to see it. The information would be useful.

Sorry to say I won't be posting any updated statistics to the Chronicles of Laser Pointer Forums. The custom Helium Scraper app I commissioned with Avery's assistance was written for vBulletin.
Is this Helium scraper the one referenced here?: https://github.com/mherrmann/selenium-python-helium
It seems to be based on Selenium, which is a futureproof scraping framework (meaning that if a user can access a certain bit of content, Selenium can headlessly scrape it and remain indistinguishable from a regular user)

Even if Helium isn't based on Selenium, someone could definitely implement a scraper that scans LPF's members on a daily or monthly basis (see demo vid, for simplicity's sake we must assume that usernames only start with letters, numbers, or a _). The data acquisition can be programmed using the Selenium IDE (just as with Helium) and the other logic can be hand coded in. It would let you gather any data that could be seen when somebody visits your page, if you set your page to private (ahem Encap) then there would be no info known about you; the scraper respects privacy

AWS Lambda would appear to be the ideal host for such a scraper as it rotates IPs after each execution, making it impossible for the scraper to get banned, and would be 100% free for the low levels of computation this would take (assuming the scanning is done on a monthly basis)

Anyways, I'm too lazy to do it but would be more than willing to provide someone with the low-level know-how of how to implement this themselves

So unexpected to see my username appear in at least 4 of those spreadsheets. Makes me feel special good work! (y)
