Hi everyone, just wanted to share my recent LPC-826 build in a "pocket pal" look alike host. The host is anodized red, and looks really metallic and good. I also have a blue version of the host for a future bluray build, so they will be like twins.
the laser will be available to buy as soon as i finish my bluray build in the blue host.
It was a very tough first build for me, the host needed lots of drilling out cause the inside had a sort of lip, and this made it impossible for the heatsink to go in, so I sanded it out with my dremel, but on one occasion, the dremel slipped and I scratched the host pretty badly.
anyway, it works in the end, and it works fine, it does look pretty ugly inside, cause I soldered on the spring myself and used thermal epoxy for the first time in my life, but like I said, it works brilliantly.
It's being driven at 456mA by a Ghostdrive2, which means it should be outputting about 300mw, but I'm still waiting on my 10440 batteries, so at the moment I'm using 3 AAA batteries.
Now onto the pictures. I apologize in advance for the rubbish quality, but the only camera I have access to right now is the camera built into my laptop.
Here is the diode inside the heatsink
The empty blue host....
Here is the scratch I was talking about.... EDIT: got my decal from nick today, used it to cover up the scratch, so it looks better now
Excuse the fact I'm using the blue host's tailcap, the red one is broken, I will get a replacement soon
Here it is compared with my 100mw green, with smoke
For the haters......
Lastly, a big thank you to:
Blord: for providing the diode
Eudamoinium: making the heatsink
Ghostchrome: For providing the driver
