Looking for brightest handheld laser under $1500

+1

*mumbles something about not putting all eggs in one basket*

Yep, that was my thinking.

I know fine well if it was me I'd be hugely excited from the time between ordering to it arriving at my door, open it and use it, have a brief climax of excitement and be like "well that was fun" and then realise I had nothing else to play with. I love variety.. as do most folk!

Yup, agreed . I think I'm addicted to the buy build play sell repeat cycle more than collecting. But I do have a few builds I'll never let go

they have a word for that over on the photography forums - GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). I fell for it myself and had quite a few cameras - upside was I gained experience quickly, downside was I spent more money than I should selling and buying, and not enough time taking pictures.

I have seen ahead and decided I will not repeat that with lasers. In a little under 2 months I have acquired 4 wavelengths and several awesome lasers to boot - I shan't get too greedy now and have committed to not buy any lasers for a while. (Can't rule out torches though :na:)

Well that's my problem then. So many serious problems just turning out to be GAS ;)

Wow, $1500 could get you quite a lot indeed! You have a wide selection of lasers available to you(as mentioned by other members). These include almost every laser company you desire.

I may have an idea of interest, you can try and contact CNI and ask for a custom build(I.E "rare" wavelength not offered in handheld). It has been done before, and im sure $1500 could get you a nice little guy.

Nevertheless,
I must say, it's great you decided to stop smoking! Smoking is a horrible habit I have never done, and hope to never start in the future.

Best of luck buddy!

If you want to go with a collection, I have a matching set of custom ms v3s. And you'd still have over $1000 left.
1.4w 445nm
520mw 638nm
510mw 405
120mw 532
$400+shipping

Could spend the rest on a very powerful 532

I would go with this ^^^ the. Get a 700mw 532nm from laserbtb, and spend the rest on batteries, chargers, and safety glasses :)

I wish i had 1.5k for lasers :( I'm so poor

Oh I just got my lpm " calibrated" so you can up those numbers by ten percent. Along with all the lasers in my sig. Lol

Good to include glasses and batteries. And I would go with tha 700mw or the 800 from jetlasers.

If you were to go this route, you're have a killer collection in a hurry. And a matching one :D best of all worlds. A set of custom sinner hosts, and a great company 532.

Man that sounds good. Never mind, I'm off to jetlasers!! Haha just kidding. Need to sell them.

Thanks guys for the info! But as I stated I'm only interested in one laser. I only use my lasers outside at night and I only care about the beam. I appreciate you guys trying to get my collection going, but I'm fine having two lasers in my collection: a 1.2W Arctic, and the laser that starts and wins WW3 :) I'm liking the idea of the 1 or 2 watt 532, but no one has mentioned anything about duty cycle?

The largest 532nm handheld is 1.2W thus far. We cant tell you about duty cycles of a custom built lasers since it is custom and depends on what its made of and how large.

LG 900mW Hercules has no duty cycle. Find a legit company with the laser you want and read the specs......we cant tell you what to get or how to spend your money. We can only tell you if its a good company or good laser

Its also massive and IMO stupidly over sized:

DANG! I didnt realize the 900mW was ~$6000!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP LG, thats RIDIC!\

Well, OP you are going to have to go custom to get anything over 1W in 532nm. They will have to rip apart a lab style laser and drop it into a handheld, no other way around it. LaserBtb does 700mW for $800, other than that you are SOL unless its custom. We as a laser hobby dont want over 700mW of 532nm since its crazy in price and no need since it doesnt make that much difference. Only reason to go over 500mW of 532nm is to show off and prove you have the strongest 532nm and deepest pockets.

If I have $1500, then I'd have a killer 100% custom collection, heck I'd fill all 10 of my custom anodized C6 hosts!

Yeah. A guy just posted a thread that he reversed the polarity on his 800mw. $3700 . I would have immediately slit my wrists!

He said it didn't kill it but the exhausts was coming out hot.

That's like buying a car and putting the battery in reversed. I'm just saying, with something that expensive, I would be more careful

Hence why only one or two members have it :p

So you want a long duty cycle... meaning 532nm is likely out of the question.

The new 520nm diodes with TEC (thermo-electric cooling) should get you what you want with money to spare.

You can get one already built from olike . Weird host, but they are ready to go.
