looking for a 635nm red

Camera probably won't do the 635 vs 650nm difference much justice. Not the same sensitivity curve as the eye; both will look white-to-red. Visually, can you describe how it looks compared to a Dilda? i.e., "more orange", "brighter", etc?

I can´t see a color difference to the Dilda, also the 200mW Dilda is much brighter than the 30mW 635nm. I have to wait for the diffracion gratings to say more about the real wavelenght.
Are there any 635nm Atlasnova or Z-Bolt pics around?

Edit: found 635nm beamshots
Edit2: pics in the shower

---> 30mW SL-635nm-Pointer vs 50mW Red Laser Star projector Pen

Robin´s (from saillaser) comment to my question if it is real 635nm:

I am sure it really has a 635nm output, because we use 638nm laser diodes(Sanyo DL-5148-030) for the red laser pointers.

And you will find the anode and cathode of batteries is reverse compare to 650nm laser pointer.

What do LPF members think? Should I expect more from a 30mW 635nm?

Hmm. If the 50mW 650 looks brighter than the 30mW 635, something's odd. The 635 should appear more orange (like a HeNe laser) compared to the 50mW 650. As far as visibility curves go, 30mW of 635 should look as bright as, if not brighter, than 50mW of 650.

A lot of people say they can't see the difference between 635 and 650; but side by side, I usually can, clear as day - it's a rather large wavelength difference. 650 appears cherry red, 635 appears more 'red-orange'.

The camera won't reveal the visibility differences. But either everything's fine with the 635 and that 650@50mW is actually much more than 50mW, or the 635 A) isn't really 635, or B) isn't really 30mW.

I've seen a few "635s" from Z-Bolt end up being more like 640 or 645... The "truest" 635s I've seen have been from AtlasNova and JDSU diodes.

I wrote to this company and they assure me that for $65+$25 shipping, i'd "definitely get 30mW of 635", but... i doubt it a little now.

Wait for my review in a few weeks. The LPM anf the grating should make it clear. But all in all it seemed too good to be true to have a 30mW of 635nm for this price :knight:
