Long closed can diode!

But also because of the uber-short wavelength, it scatters more or something
I think that is right
No, that's visibility through clear air you're thinking. :P

The more the beam gets scattered, the more energy is lost over distance...

But the beam is brighter! =D

Yeah. Of course it is. :-D it is because of the scattered energy :-D

For those of you with dilda lasers, look inside. That is exactly what the diode from the 6x sled is like. It looks like a long-die open can, but with a can on it. I have one running at like 270mW and its been going forever. There is also a windowless IR diode, of an unknown power. Probably at least 100mW.

and of course the 6x diode. Run it at 190mA and it will love you forever.

I remember my first 6x... back when it was a big deal to have one  ;D

PEW PEW PEW!!!

p.s. The hand in that first picture sure is sexy :D

I can't wait until I get my 6x and my blu black marble Kryton groove!

Wow, so we will get 1x >200mW (probably more) violet diode , 1x >250mW closed can diode AND an IR diode. :o 8-) All of that for only 55 bucks...Now thats just crazy.
That's what sold a sled to me. ;D
Just the fact that I can get a 6x blu-ray for $55, sold me. ;D
I was hesitant at first but the dilda-like LD in there justified the purchase for me, because that way if I fry the 6x I only fried a $35 diode instead of a $55 diode. ;D

I know this is off topic but our 6x LDs will be able to burn from really far distances. Correct me if I am wrong but 405nm can be dialed down to lower divergences than 660nm because of the shorter wavelength, so that means longer burning distances!
I think we can expect to see >300 BR's if not more if not higher in the future. Also, yes the shorter wavelength will give you better focus which MAY increase it range for burning...light scatter probably won't be THAT bad.

I sure hope so, and I hope people keep having GB for the 6x Sleds. Because at the moment I can't even afford one at these low prices

A couple mW doesn't make a difference when burning. ;)

geez look at ALLLLL those optics!

:) ;D

So we get 1x >250mW violet, 1x >250mW red, 1x >100mW IR diode, a few little rare earth magnets, LOTS of optics and a magnesium alloy...This is the greatest drive Ive ever seen! ;D

And a partridge in a pear tree ;)

Are you sure 190mA won't kill it?
