Lighting a match at 66 feet (about 20 meters)

Hi guys...
I have yet another video of my favorite laser...

I put my PGL on the meter several times a week and this morning I was getting a stable 720mW+. It was cool and breezy outside so I made use of the nice weather.

Here is a 66 foot white match light and burning some card paper.

Also, I'd love to see any other videos of some long distance match lighting if you have 'em!

If I had more space, I would have tried this at 100 feet, but my backyard isn't that big. Maybe I'll try it out on the street soon.

Hope you all enjoy!

Very nice, 66 feet is FAR!

Sadly I don't have a laser with anywhere close to enough power to do any long - distance burning :cryyy:

It can be less hard than you think. I've done it indoors at about 10 meters using a 200 mW red and (10x50 bresser) binoculars as the beam expander. I think it may be feasible at greater distances, but i dont have room indoors to set that up... perhaps i could get a 15 meter line indoors here, but thats about as large as the place is.

Outside is probably more tricky because you need to get some sort of very stable mount for the laser system.

I've done it with the dilda with no expander at 10m, that fat beam is perfect for far focusing and great divergence.(If focused properly.)

Man this vid makes me sad that I have NO green lasers over 100mW right now :( DAMN MY LUCK! (with greenies)

Hey PSSSTTT! can i have yours? j/k!

thats awesome!!!! cant wait for my lg x10 to arrive......im ready for some distance burning...

that is what I got from Luke, they are the same as an 8X but burn like hell still! LOVE MINE! I am transplanting it now though, but I still got my 230mW PHR with aixiz plastic lens >:P

Very Nice video and dang that is far for burning anything......but a white tipped match.

Very cool video, thanks for posting! :thanks:

Reminds me of this one (which most of you have probably already seen):

A white match with a green laser and at 20 meters! Amazing!
You were very lucky to get a laser capable of doing 720mW rated at 400mW, or are lasers from Laserglow always that overspec?

This laser was actually purchased from Glenn's CNI GB #5.
LaserGlow's Aries series (The "C" battery version of this laser) only goes up to 250mW average. Their Hercules series is their highest power unit which I'm sure can achieve >1W.

Awesome video:beer:

Thanks!

Oh, that explains a lot.
I've seen the Hercules laser at the Laserglow website and the strongest is 900mW. But are they sometimes overpowered?

That's a very nice video, I can't wait until mine arrives. I wish I had ordered that beam expander at the same time as my laser.

you bet!
they also have a "freak" waiting list you can join, because they sometimes produce "freak" lasers in the batch that can be as overpowered as 1.5Watts for the Herc (at a pretty penny).

peace & thanks
