yes iv focused allt hey way, it wont light anything
best i can work out is either this is what a 100mw is suppose to be like, or the battery isnt charged, but ill hav to go out and buy an adapter coz im in uk and the charger has 2flat pins, but at the moment, my 5mw is brighter than this. the only difference is the price. if its nothing to do with the batetry than i will be dissapointed at this laser.

focused does mean the smallest it will go right? becoz its lyk that. if i unfocus it the spot becomes 5cm wide .

Do you have a multimeter? - you could check the battery, though it does sound like it needs charging. It should be a LOT brighter than your 5mW. If you're competent with wiring you could rig that charger up to a normal plug (I did when I first got one).

When you focus the beam, it will get very narrow at the focus point.
If you were holding the laser pointing directly in front of you, to focus to infinity you would turn the focusing knob to your left (or clockwise if you were looking from the front)
To focus within inches of the laser (ie, for burning), you would turn the focusing knob the other way.
Hope that makes sense :D

edit:
quick test. My 445 focused to a point about 5 inches from the laser, beams a 'dot' approx. 8 x 5 inches big on a wall 10feet away.

Carefully!

I think if you need to ask, it's probably best not to tell you. t.b.h.
Electricity scares the f#%k out of me, I don't want to encourage someone else who isn't too sure to start messing with it :D

ur right, im gonna go down to the shops near my house to find a adapter, if theres nothing wrong witht he battery, then 100mw green is stupid and pointless. it has to be to do withthe battery, because 100mw cant be this dim. it doesnt do anything, no smoking no nothing, and my 5mw ebay is seriously brighter

i think my focus is the other way around, if i turn it clockwise while holding it straigh (anticlockwise if your looking from the front) the dot gets bigger, the opposite direction makes it smaller

The dot on the wall will get bigger, but the beam should be getting narrower towards the laser -focused.
Don't look at the dot, look at the beam.

aah right, anyways, bought a adapter, gnna charge this battery up, see what happens

EDIT- light is red, guess it need charging, thanks for your help guys, ill post later to see what happens

The battery could have over 4v of charge in it and the red light will still come on and start charging it more.
If the battery was flat it will probably take a good few hours until the light turns green.

It's best not to let rechargeables drop to their lowest discharge voltage so they need fully recharging again, buy a cheap multimeter - invaluable piece of equipment. ;-)

its still charging! it must be really flat or something, or my adapter is not letting much current through
EDIT- how many amps should my adapter be letting through? becuase it is only got 1 amp and it says on it for shaver and toothbrushes only, should i rpelace the fuse inside with a 3amp?

Thats a good sign. If it had turned green already it would be a good bet there would have been enough charge in the battery to power the laser up properly before ;-)
