Laserlands Lens

I don't think you are going to get much more power since they are 3 element lenses the first is plastic and the second is glass, (better).
Got to DTR laser and find the G2 or G1 lenses he sells, than you will see some real power difference.

I was trying to do it on the cheap :) thought you could get a bit more power using a glass lens ??

afaik you get more power out of a glass lens than acrylic, how much, im not sure. plus at higher outputs acrylic can melt so glass is recommended for most builds

If you really want the power increase then you need to spend the $45+ on a G2 and you will get at least a 30% increase if not slightly more.

I actually tested this. I have a 650nm w/acrylic lens (link in sig) that i metered at 230mW. After looking around, i decided to get a red coated three element from DTR.

I put it on my 650 C6, and it read LOWER than the acrylic. I can't remember exact number, but it didn't get much past 200mW.

However, when i put a G2 on, it hit just below 260mW. So, if $45 is worth a few tens of mW gain, get a g2. Otherwise i would stick to the acrylic. Most who use three element lenses do so for the better beam specs.

Now that is awkward .
Anyone know what are the G-2 lens glass element made of?

Greetings,

Uh, Looks like you answered your own question.....glass !!

Moe

no no no!
As in what kind of glass.
What is G-2 lens??

I found a little schematic for it on the net... but still... what makes G-2 lens so expensive ... what makes it so sought after over the 3 elements lens???
