Laserglow VEGA-10  Review/Pics

It's a shame that your laser is a bit misaligned. :(

You should try popping a balloon (with a lens), though. ;D

That is really cool, though the last picture does kinda show how the beam is not coming out straight.

This is really encouraging, I have a 5mw Yellow from DL in coming in the mail right now, I can't wait to see how it performs.

I hope you get al least 4mW although I think you ordered GLP model that doesn't go over 2mW. You never know though. PGLs officialy are also not rated over 5mW but Laserglow sels it at higher outputs. There are exceptions and hopefully it will be a good unit. Make sure you let us know whats up when you get it!

Yeh, its nice to see "straight" beam. I'm kinda picky about it also, but for now I'm focusing on other aspects of the beam. I'f I ever decide to upgrade or something like that I'll ask to make sure the beam is inline with the body. I'm not gonna cry about it at this time, unles something else comes up during my testing.

As for popping balloons, I was never really into that or burning matches, but I can tell you that it does burn stuff with slight aide of my RPL :P

So far is a joy ride! I had it ON for over an hour with used up batteries.

Re: Laserglow VEGA-10  Review/Pics

hi Milos, can you see the beam of the vega-10 at night without fog/mist?

Re: Laserglow VEGA-10  Review/Pics

Great laser! I'm sure when it's running at one of its higher outputs it can pop a balloon. But if you don't want to try that's up to you.

Man, I wish I had the money for stuff like this though...

Definitely, against dark background.
Beam is as visible as 4-5mW green. It appears a bit more "noticable" though for some reason. Maybe the combination of color and the fact it's much thinner than other laser beams I have. I am constantly comparing it to my Core shooting up into clouds/clear sky, dim room, dark room, and they are quite equal to me. In the dark you see dim beam all the time regardless of weather. Specially looking towards the front of laser.

hehe, Its not that I don't want to try to pop a baloon. Its the fact that it's only <10mW of power that doesn't need to be tested in my opinion. Even if I managed to concentrate beam to such small point on a balloon and pop it , it just isn't worth the trouble imo.

Some of you guys just loooove popping those things, dontya :)

Well it would be a good test to see if the balloons absorb yellow well. I've seen cores pop balloons with a lens, i don't see why 10mw couldn't

Re: Laserglow VEGA-10  Review/Pics

I'm really glad you finally got this Milos! Looks fantastic, I think the angle would annoy me a tiny bit though; Looks like it almost touches the shutter. The colour is brilliant, puts green to shame :D
I'd guess it's more visible than the core(slightly) due to the smaller beam diameter? e.g. The same ammount of power is more dense. The pics are v.impressive, can you actually see it in a semi-lit room like in the pictures?

Milos: Thanks for the great pics and review. I'm glad you got your Vega in good time!

The crooked beam is something that we do look for when QC testing these lasers, but unless it is actually hitting the aperture and causing scatter we usually ship it out. It's impossible to get a perfectly straight beam with every unit, and yellow lasers are even harder than green in this respect. If it's off by more than 10 degrees we can replace it for you, but considering the high output power on your Vega we may not be able to offer one that performs exactly the same.

I'd be interested to see what the yellow laser from DL performs like. We've been selling the Rigel-2's for several years now and have yet to see any that perform reliably above 2mW. Also, the supply of Rigels has been interrupted and we can't get any right now! They come from CNI and apparently there are problems on their end, so unless DL has a big stockpile of yellow pointers you may be waiting a while.

nice laser and review man , i wish that my parents buy me the "Aries-35" or the "Aries-50" :'(
but i have a cool mini green 30mW Romisen from DX ;)

Thanks,
Awf

watch the dates on some of these threads - this one for example is almost 4 months old ::)

Nothing wrong with bumping the quality reviews for the forum noobs to see.

Re: Laserglow VEGA-10  Review/Pics

true, was just saying that since he seemed to be bumping a bunch of dusty threads for the sake of saying "cool" ;)
