Anyone ever buy from here ?

Laserpurpluspart.com

I want to get this 6x diode and want to know if these guys are any good.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like a decent buy to me

Thanks..

I want to get about 150mW out of it...what driver should I use...Planning on a host using 2*10440 Li-ions.....Actually...would a DDL work? Just the LM317 and 10ohm 1/4watt Metal Film resistor..?

You'll want to use a lm117 instead and I think you can drive these a little higher

Well I am going to be putting it into a MXDL Pen host that uses 2*AAA,

So you think I should use the LM117? and a 10ohm res?

EDIT:

Whats better about the LM117?...thats a SOT-223...less heatsinking. Wouldn't I want the LM317? thats a TO-220

You won't be able to use a LM317 DDL with only 2x 10440s. Not enough voltage. :(

Edit: actually hrm.... might be close with a LM1117. What's the dropout volatage on a LM1117, 1.5V?

I'm not sure what the safe current for these are but I drive phr's at 125ma so I assume you could drive it higher when getting your lm117 make sure to take note of the dimensions there are all different sizes of the chip

GHOST YOUNG MAN YES YOU CAN WITH A LM117 it has a lower dropout voltage
What ever will we do with you ghost......

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle.

That's pretty cool actually. I'm gonna build me one of those. I've got a PHR sled that needs to have it's diode liberated.

When I found that out I about shit my pants ........ Take that put slap a 10 ohm on there and a small output cap and lase ......

Kinda cool still a linear regulator just eats up less voltage

Oh and ya 1.25 volts or mange its 1.5 not positive
Wait a sec actually idk how safe 125ma is for a phr-803t I used a phr-805t

According to this 120mW is max you should push an 803T

With the GGW that Modwerx has, you can run the violet (bluray) diode up to ~190-200mA

Also, with the GGW sled, you get a Long Closed Can (LCC) 650nm (red) diode in it as well. You can run the LCC at ~400-425mA

That's a 180mW violet and a 250mW red from the same sled ;)

Peace,
dave

Oooh nice. Cheers.

thats good to know about the GGW.

So then...lm117 should do it then for me, eh? There is a few different package sizes/styles..

bennett326....are you using a TO-220?

To clear up some confusion, there is both an LM117 chip and LM1117 chip.
Notice the lack of one "1" there.

You want LM1117 ones, with extra one 1 there :p :D

You can buy them buy the truckload for small money on eBay.
