Very easy to work with. Besides, you don't need massive TO-220 for only 100mA or so. Once you get in more than half amp, or so, then you need heatsinking and more bulkier casings, but at that point it's a lot better to use switching drivers (either buck or boost), so it's a bit of a moot point.
 
I just use SMD resistors of the needed value, I don't care about the wattage rating much. For lower currents, ofcourse.

You can calculate the needed resistance yourself,
1.25 / Needed current in Amps = Resistance in ohms
 
Okay so I might finally get it now. If I want 150 mA do this:

1.25/0.150=8.3

So 8.3 ohms then....sorry if I am not understanding. I've always had a hard time understanding current

Yes, that's correct, 8.3 ohms. You seem to be understanding current just fine :)
