Hey All
After Going around on ebay for lab lasers , i got lucky and scored a laser quantum Gem 532nm Laser System OEm Style
I won the system for 400 usd Advertised with 2000 Hours on the system but after finnaly getting it going as it can only be turnd on and off via the RS232 Port it turns out its hours are 1825 so 175 Less than advertsied .
using a terminal programe the cotrols are ON , OFF to turn laser on and off then after the ON command is issued then POWER=XXX can be used to set power where laser will regulate to that power . head/psu Temprature read , hours read , diode current in % , power in mW , calibration can all be read over the RS232 port .
The Unit aslo has a built in Power sensor to sence output and messured output at full is 505mW @ 88 % Diode current , After readings sams FAQ these modules can be tricked into outputing over rated power , some have done over 1 Watt CW for low milage systems
As the laser was made to be finber launched the output is 100Mrad or so i belive so i need to find a lense to correct the output into a nice beam .
Was soo happy the system works as these are expenive systems new made in the UK
Here are a few pics of the system with raw output , More pics and videos to follow
