Laser Pointer w/ phone number

Hi guys,

I was surfing the web, and I found this site.
I have to do/buy a laser pointer, but instead a red/blue/green point, I need a phone number refracting on the wall.
I know that is something weird, but is for the University.
Someone know how to do it? or point me in the right direction?

To achieve this with a single laser pointer, you would need a custom made diffraction grating, and that would probably cost more than a small overhead projector that you can just write the number on. :thinking:

Alternately, you can get a Laser Projector (stage laser) with ILDA (FB3 DAC) and Pangolin software installed on a laptop, and you can write whatever you want on the wall. (total cost ~$2,000)

This may sound stupid, but wouldnt it be easier to just cut you phone number out of a piece of paper, and shine a laser throught it?
