Laser mirror reflection... (pics)

Like I said in the previous thread the diode is toasted. The raw output doesn't look good.
The reflected beam came back from the mirror, hits the lens and the dot has burned the die exactly at the spot where the laserlight originally came out. That is why you have a weird raw output, it shouldn't have a moon shaped.

I have experienced it twice with my red laser and both time the laser needs a replacement diode.

How much is this new diode lol, and I can't seem to be able to remove the diode (heatsink, etc) it's all in one clump, any idea on how to remove?

The commercial lasers are sometime lock down with locktite. They don't want you to tamper with it.
 
It would be really hard to fix it cheaper then buying new one ..
 
Buy the Mohgasm C6 kit and a LPC826 in a module and you are done. Cheap and simple.

Well .. I spend hundreds on my lasers (and I'm on the low side here) .. and I 'use' them once twice a year .. so you are not really loosing much, not in this very moment .. also lasers get cheaper and stronger all the time, waiting pays off.

Well-- I agree- just like holding a mic too close to a speaker what you got was optical feedback( sorta) when a speaker begins to squeal with feedback we move the mic away- but when the mirror sends the beam back at the diode we get no clue what we are doing until its too late- Glass used in some applications like the AixiZ glass lenses is 'AR' coated- Anti-Refective- this coating is there to prevent the 'bounce back' as the beam goes thru the lens- but AFAIK even the AR coating is not enough when one does what you did - assuming the lens in you laser is AR coated.

The glue makers use to keep the module in place does not let go easily- yyou may be able to break it free with a wooded dowel that is only slightly smaller than the 'hole' and tap it lightly with a hammer- at this pint you need not worry abiut the module- jsut try not to damage the host- loo for any threads or grubs( set screws) as they need to be addressed before breaking out you hammer- go slow and check a lot in between hitting the module- there may be a difference in which way you attempt to force the module out- look inside for signs od glue- if unsure you may want to tap a fewtimes in both directions to see if it is moving any.
your other option is to ask a vet with experience to see if they can do some of this for you- You can prolly just put this one aside for another day and start saving for a replacement- Companies like Lasersman/ Yourlaser/ Laserfun etc have been giving handhelds away and also selling some at a big discount- I understand that you are jsut starting out but I will assure you that some day you will look back on this and laugh.. your lesson?? lasers and mirrors do not play well together- at least this thread is not about a mirror bouncing a beam back into your eyes- you can see that if the beam can damage the diode so easily your eyes will get more damage and faster as well.
replacemant modules are getting suoer cheap- dont feel that your are locked into the same color- get a12$ green module thae same diameter and you may be able to replace yourself witha lttle arctic cement to fill the gaps and tranfers the heat.
you must measure your old module and try to get a new one the same size- not all greens are 12 mm some(many) are 11.9mm thus its very hard to force a 12 mm into a 11.9 mm hole but the opposite is easy - just fill the gaps with a copper or thin Al.shim and/or adhesive. ther is no way to fix your old module- just try to re-use the host.

Heat also has a good effect on breaking down the glue. You can ziplock it and boil it for an hour or so, every now and then carefully trying to loosen it.

If you actually have access to the glue, you can try to dissolve it with solvents, but sometimes solvent vapors can attack plastic lenses.

I say brute force it with some strap wrenches or something. It's a red laser, right? Red diodes are like, $20. That particular one you have is an open can, so look for a long open can, LOC, something like that.
