Laser CPU?

Nah, it's all in telecom wavelengths for silicon, and their big goal was to get a laser built into silicon because it's waaay cheaper. Think about the cost of even the shittiest red laser diode when you're trying to integrate hundreds of them into a device, get them all aligned perfectly, and then mass produce all those devices too. They also developed an all-silicon modulator, so that they could actually switch at usable rates (e.g. that 50gps). It was pretty low-speed before, in the low Mhz.

Any idea how much power in mw the lasers in the transmitter chip wil generate,... ;) Will it be less then 1mw or will it be more then 1mw ? :D

This brings another thing to mind, quantum mechanics! What the hell is quantum mechanics and what does it have to do with computing? To be honest I understand just the basics of quantum mechanics so please bear with me.

In a nut shell quantum mechanics explains the realations between matter and energy, and how a particle of matter can actually have a duel particle. :wtf: Ok this is where this gets weired, if you were to directly affect that particle, than its duel particle will also be affected instantaneously. No time delay, it doesn't matter if you are on opposite sides of the universe.

If we can harness the potential behind this then we have reached the threshold of super computing and communications. I know the research for this going on now, but time can only tell when it will be incorporated into our computers.

I think you are getting confused with wave-particle duality, what you are talking about is called Quantum Entanglement, like when you split a photon. but quantum physics deals with much more than that.
